Five years old and still wonderful! What a dream! I have been wondering if an Easteregger might be a good choice, since they tend to be more mellow… Did he come from your own flock or a hatchery?

Neither, he came from Tractor supply XD. Easter Eggers are great, mellow chooks.

Just occurred to me I should post a picture of my rooster, since this thread got moved to stories and pictures… The one thing he had going for him was his looks. He is stunning.

This is Junior, who later moved to another farm, where he's a more dignified Big Boy, a very nice Chantecler. All our Chantie cockerels and adults have been polite.

That is great that it has been so consistent for you. They look like a neat breed to have, but I fear they wouldn’t be happy in our hot summers.

Yeah, I got it. It’s just good to hear that EEs from big hatcheries can turn out well, too, because they probably don’t particularly focus on temperament in their breeding.
