What good thing happened to me today? IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!
Ok, not normally a big thing when you get to be my age, however, 5 yrs ago it was not a birthday even my drs could say that I would see. In fact, no one was 100% I would make it to my next one that was only a few months away BUT~ I am a 5+ year survivor with CML (chronic Myeloid Leukemia)
Ok, so, there is no "cure" for me, or others like me, YET, but huge strides are being made every day in all forms of cancer and even tho I still must be on drug therapy every day
the drug I take today is far more effective with way fewer (and MILDER) side effects
than the one that initially saved my life and had to take for the first 2 years.
I am truly grateful that I am able to celebrate this birthday and doing and feeling better than I have in years! How many folks can say that???
My heart can't help but break for those who are not as blessed as I and are struggling or worse, for the families of those who have lost their fight~my prayers and love go out to all of you
Every day really is a gift! Whenever I have a "normal" bad day, get angry, disappointed, etc. all I have to do is look at the pill bottle ever present on the counter to be reminded how truly blessed I am
