Tell your 'what the heck was that thing?' scary story

I would say that to but there was no sound whatsoever. and we were only about a football feild length away from them. Maybe they were top secret silent helicopters

There are some that are almost silent.

Lots of top secret stuff gets tested in rural areas too. Or maybe it was ET, great story either way.

As for the weird objects, I would suspect they'd be some top secret planes they were testing out. That or dang Russians.

Oh I totally agree that it was probably some sort of top secret plane. We all know that the government has things that they dont tell us about

Okay, here is my other story. It's not a 'what the heck was that thing' type, but it is a scary story. We know very well what the 'thing' was, it was a possessed doll

When me and my sister were small, mom and dad bought each of us a life-sized doll. I remember them being called 'walk with me, talk with me' dolls, but I can't seem to find that online so apparently it's not the right name. These dolls were about 36" tall, had voice boxes (pull string on their backs), and had a rubber band thing inside their 'hips' that allowed them to 'walk' with you by holding their hands. Of course when we first got them, my sister and I loved them. I think we were either 5 and 6 or 6 and 7. Either way, we were pretty young.

My cousins didn't help matters any, they'd always tell us stories of their dolls pushing them out of their beds and such. I remember seeing a movie about dolls like this (the dolls were real children) that came to life and started killing people...Obviously, young girls shouldn't watch movies like that, but we always tried to 'sneak a peek' at the scary movies dad and my uncle were watching when we visited.

Anyway, we got so scared of these dolls that we locked them inside our closet. It was so bad that if we went to bed with the closet open we would scream bloody-murder until mom or dad came in and closed the door. I'm sure my older brother probably had something to do with our being so scared, because I remember a few times waking up in the morning with the closet door open and having dreamed that these dolls had been out during the night. Then of course there were times when we woke up (sister and I shared a bed at the time) and one or both dolls were either IN the bed with us or lying on the floor beside the bed. I'll blame most of this action on my brother, though I don't know for sure and can't ask him. But it is something he would have done.

Okay, now to the story. My brother had moved out, sister and I were probably 13 and 14 years old. We now had a 'new' sister who would have been about 5 or 6 at the time. For some reason, we'd had one of the dolls (the other had disappeared? I don't remember what happened to it) out in the living room with us, it was sitting on the couch. I think baby sis liked to play with them and since we were 'older' we tried not to show our fear of this doll. Anyway, one night me and my sisters were home alone, mom and dad had went somewhere and brother had moved out. We heard the dog outside raising Cain about something, so all 3 of us went outside to check it out. I don't remember if we found something, I think a raccoon or opossum was out there...anyway, we turned to go back in. Now, mind you, when we went outside the doll was sitting/laying on the couch. I know for a fact it was not moved because I was the last one out. When we turned to come back in, the doll had moved about 10' and was sitting in front of the door....

Now, you tell me how that doll got there? It wasn't brother playing a prank, and none of us had moved it. There was no one else in the house, and we know it had been on the couch.

Needless to say, we stayed outside until mom and dad got home. A few years later dad finally took the doll and burned it after it had been locked in the front porch closet. I guess since baby sis was now terrified of it as well he decided it was time to get rid of it.

I told quite a few people that we saw the Russians.

Specifically my teacher at the time, who I found out later called my Mom and told her.

It is easy to believe in the things we accept as being real. Because
we can see them.

But the things that we can not see--Do they cease to exist simply because
man does not see them? But all things are not visible to men.

Somewhere in my studies, I came across the portals of time. Old volumes, written
long ago. For ghosts are not new to this world. Or stories of space people, or even
tales from oceans. I've seen the pictures cavemen left. Fear, and wonder, of the
unknown have been with man forever.

There are portals that connect this world as we know it with other dementions, other
times. The existance of these portals has been well documented. Two of the the most
famous are indeed the Bermuda Triangle and one in Roswell New Mexico. Once opened,
never closed. Christoper Columbus journals told of his sailing into the Bermuda Triangle.
Lost and confused, barely surviving. Half his crew disappeared.

Where do the people lost there go? Over 10,000 people lost in the triangle since 1940.
Not one single body recovered. For there lies the door to the oceans deep. Another world,
another time.

Is Roswell any different? Early american man left drawings of spacecrafts and aliens. Landing
in the desert, accending to the heavens.

But those two are the easy ones. We know where they are, and stay away from them. Afraid
of the unknown.

It is the shifting portals that we fear. For they are uncontrollable, never the same twice. And it
is through these portals that ghosts step from one demension to the other. Did you know that
these portals are the reasons behind our cemeteries? For centuries, man has been trying to find
a way to control the spirit world. To keep the spirits in a central area, no longer free to roam at will.
For the portals are only open a short time and for a spirit to be far away, it lessens the chance of
returning to their own world. History tells of many ghost seen within a short distance of the
graveyard.

Only the newly-dead are seen roaming far from the grave. For they have not yet made it to the
other side. They mean us no harm, they just have not yet found their way to the next world.

Some would say that there are people among us who have found their own ways into the portals.
The mystics, and those who would speak with the dead, have their own path into other demensions.
They can see the past, and tell the future.

These portals exist, ever changing.

Some in the shadows of night, perhaps others in the swirls of light in the oceans.

It is right to fear the darkness...

FarmerBoy, there was a reason the caveman, once they discovered fire,
never stared into the flames but out at the darkness. For they did not fear
the light, but the darkness, the shadows, and the things the night contained.

Have you never wondered why it was once the custom to maim the body of
the dead, or to burn the body of a warrior? It was to keep them from coming
back. For to defeat the living is one thing.

To defeat the dead is another thing all together.

In legends, there is a truth buried.

Would you knowingly buy a home built on ground that was once a cementary?
Amityville Horror wasn't exactly based on fiction.

To many sightings of Bigfoot for Bigfoot to not exist. But perhaps there are hundreds
even thousands of Bigfoots in another demension.

Just because we do not understand, does not mean something need not exist.

I THINK that it is possible that there are "Other Dimensions" which are not apparent to us humans.

BUT, there ain't nobody that "proved" it yet.

So....I don't worry myself over it....It may only be man's imagination....which is endless.

BOO !!!

(didja jump ? )

Ha-Ha !!!
