Tell your 'what the heck was that thing?' scary story

I am pretty sure I posted this on a similar thread we had a couple of years back, so if oldtimers remember me posting, well...its been awhile.

This was not so scary as much as just ODD.

My Mom and I were on a road trip in the early summer, driving through a fairly deserted hiway in South Dakota. There were foothills and a few lakes we had just passed, and it was horribly windy.

We hadnt seen or passed any cars for miles, but back when I was a youngster this wasnt all that uncommon, population being 1/4 or less than it is now. I do miss those times. Anyhow..

I was driving, it was broad daylight, sun in the sky, no clouds anywhere...driving along and KERSPLAT on the windshield. It was like one super large horrid smelling poo. It covered the windshield badly enuff we had to pull over and pour our water on the windshield to clean it off to even see. It literally covered 1/2 to 3/4 of the front windshield. (Back in those days we always carried two 5 gallon jugs of water at all times) It stunk SO bad, we were gagging and trying to clean this stuff off, and I am looking ALL over the sky to see what kind of bird or flock of sickly birds could have done this. There wasnt a thing in the sky, on the horizon, nothing. Mom asked me what I was looking for, and I told her I dont see anything that could have done this. No clouds to hide anything, no plane, no flock of birds, no one single bird, no hang gliders that got out of control, nothing!

The only thing I could think was this was where Thunderbirds have been reported as being seen, but I cant say we saw it, just experienced a very strange almost supernatural poo.

Just figures my supernatural experience would be getting pooped on.

Well, this is not a creepy or scary story, but was an unknown animal or something. I have a deer stand on my property and was on the stand well before first light. I am familiar with the noises the various animals make in the fall leaves. A bipedal human is unmistakable in the way most people walk, I can identify most local animals like coons, possums, deer and squirrels walking in the woods before I can see them. So….very dark and cloudy with no ambient light, and I hear what sounds like a heavy tread coming my way, but with very loud heavy breathing. I’m thinking a trespassing hunter with smoking lungs and asthma. It comes up under my stand, pauses, then goes quiet and retreats. I have no idea what it was, and if it was another hunter, it couldn’t have known I was there unless he had night vision goggles on. Yes, I had a flashlight, but didn’t use it as I didn’t want to spook any potential deer, and being 23 feet up in a homebuilt stand, I didn’t have any attack concerns should a beer, feral Hog or cougar be around----unlikely in northwest Missouri at that time.

I hate to admit it, but I absolutely LOVE reading the legends about the Bermuda Triangle, Atlantis, Area 51, and other stuff in that vein. Don't believe a word of it, but I am DRAWN to it.

Q9, this is a very hard one to explain. I've seen it several times in several parts of the world's oceans from the warm shallow waters of the Caribean to the deep cold waters off the Aluetian Islands in Alaska. It was always very alike, although size looked different at times. I've spent over an hour seaching the net and this is the only picture I can find that even comes close.

Picture this pinweel with the rays slightly straighter and colored in blue, green, yellow and a reddish orange instead of black and white. Slowly revolving clockwise. Best I could come up with as a visual.
The first time I saw it was mid 1980's just off of Bermuda about 20 miles or so out in the ocean. Late one night while on deck watch. There were about a dozen of us that saw it, so wasn't just seeing things. It looked to be at least a half mile across and looked to be just under the surface of the water maybe a foot or two. Was sorta of a Phosphorescence type glow. We were near the center when I first noticed it and it was very slowly revolving around a point just under the ship. No sound, nothing weird, just this crazy pinwheel of color. Later I asked and nothing at all showed up on radar nor sonar that night.
Several other times I saw it from an edge or in the distance.
The accepted theory from the older sailors I talked to said it was maybe some type of plankton or something, but if so it would have to be able to change colors in sequence sorta like a firefly flashing, because otherwise it would have had to be nearly flying at the outer edge of the wheel.
I can't explain it, but it was one of those things you never forget.

And I too like the Bermuda triangle stuff. I've read a lot about it and been all over the area, but never seen anything weird myself other than the Bimini blocks. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bimini_Road .

Well... mine isn't as spectacular as others, but it freaked me out.

A few months ago, all of my chickens that were sleeping in unsecured coops (ie, coops that are not permanently closed off) decided that they wanted to sleep in the rafters of our aluminum barn that is closed every night. This has caused no end of mess, but they shall not be shifted. Anyway, as I went out to do the evening feeding (probably about 6:00, very dark) I noticed that all of the 40 or so chickens were raising holy hell for some reason unbeknownst to me. This wasn't unusual in and of itself, though it was MUCH louder than usual, and so I continued to feed the pregnant does and the yearlings. When I came back five minute later, the chickens were still going at it. I was getting kinda creeped out at this point, and I wasn't looking forward to the long dark trip to the far buck barn, but I got out there and came back alright. I went into the barn again to tuck in the horses, who were restless and stompy--they're Thoroughbreds, and are easily excited. Then I took a good look at the chickens. Normally they're all facing different directions, depending on the route they took to get to their perches, but that night they were all facing the side of the barn that we don't really do anything with. It leaks in the winter, making the floor all black and gooey, and the light doesn't seem to be the same color there--it seems white and flat and cold, versus warm and yellow. I poked about there as much as I dared (and as much as I could stand; the chickens got shriekingly loud when I was on that side) but couldn't see anything or feel anything. This in itself was odd, because as a synesthete my world is by definition one that is full of "extra" colors, but they disappeared. All I could see was with my eyes; all I could hear was with my ears; all I could feel was with my skin. It was terrifying, and I wanted to try and get the birds to quiet down, but then I remembered that in many cultures bad spirits are scared away with screams and banging on copper pots, so I just left and turned off the lights and left the door a little bit open to let whatever it was out. That was the other weird thing: the chickens kept shrieking even when the light was turned off.
Whatever it was, it hasn't come back. Lovely brave chickens.

I think they debunked that on "Fact or Faked: Paranormal Files" on SYFY.

I actually have two stories, time to stop lurking and contribute, I guess. One is when I was still living at my parents house, my mom's dachshund would sleep in my bed with me right up against my legs under the blankets. One morning, when I was close to waking up, I felt what I thought was her get up and run down to the foot of the bed and jump off. I looked and she was still laying right next to my legs and hadnt moved at all. I have no idea what it was that ran down my bed, but it felt almost cat-like.

The other just happened a few nights ago. My husband works nights, so until 3 in the morning it is just me and the baby here. I stay up until he gets home sometimes (on BYC most of the time, lol) but that night I went to sleep about an hour before he usually gets home. I was sleeping on my stomach and my toes were hanging off the end of the bed, but still under the covers, and I felt someone playfully grab my toes and shake my foot. Well, I thought it was my husband, so I turned to look and no one was there. He hadnt even gotten home from work yet.

I like the paranormal tv shows and scary stories, but I am a huge chicken, and I dont ever want to see a ghost or a UFO or anything like that, but these two stories are the closest I have come to experiencing anything paranormal.

Also, while I was reading MFB's latest story, right when he was getting to the top of the hill, my phone vibrated and I almost fell off my chair. I think I peed a little.

The ocean lights or the Bimini road?

The Bimini road I personally think is most likely a natural thing (Not man made or from Atlantis, made by aliens, etc.), but still weird. You are just swimming along and the bam! there they are. There are supposed to be two other of the same type formations in the same area, but to me they just looked like natural piles of rock.

The lights might be explained someday, but I know they exist because I've seen them myself, several times. Not spooky, but weird.
