Tell your 'what the heck was that thing?' scary story

You are all going to think I'm Crazy, nobody belives me(or my family) every time we tell this story. But I dont care waht others think, I know we saw sasquatch.

We were Hiking in the red woods next to a giant tree. It was my grandma, My aunt, my uncle And me. we were the only ones there... or so we thought. We heard this loud hooting like an owl only each hoot lasted about 5 seconds and was super loud. It stoped us in our tracks. He/It "hooted for about 30 seconds. Than he stoped, so we looked around and my uncle and I saw Him zoom up the tree so fast i couldn't tell exactly what it was. Then we saw pine needdles or redwood needles falling from the tree we walked so we could see it. This ting was huge and he had a half of a coon or something in his mouth. He stared at us...

We Ran Like he11. And got in the car. But I have never seen a sasquatch since.

More stories of my freaky, haunted gold rush town:
The hotel in town has been operating since the 1800's and is haunted....of course.
The old owner said that she heard crying coming from a room, but when she looked, no one was there. Her husband often saw doors open and close on their own and heard weird noises. Their daughter once saw a shadow walking down the hallway. Eventually, the husband and daughter left and the woman went slightly crazy. She claims that the ghosts started flinging knives at her, but no one is sure, because she also went crazy.
Another story that REALLY scares me, because of my similar experience that i posted a page or so back, is this: A photography student was in the cemetery, taking a picture of the way the light played on the laeves of the tree. When it was developed, there were three blurry skeletons hanging from the tree. Many people, some who are tourists and have never been here or heard the legends, have reported seeing shadows in the cemetery....some IDENTICAL to the one I saw!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love how these stories are divided into mostly 3 categories; Physically present things that we don't know what they were like the Bigfoot and ball lightning stories, the flying ufo stories and the ghose or spirit stories. I find that I am facinated by all three kinds and I'd love to read more!

Just because stuff like that fascinates me, do tell about the giant lights in the ocean.

I hate to admit it, but I absolutely LOVE reading the legends about the Bermuda Triangle, Atlantis, Area 51, and other stuff in that vein. Don't believe a word of it, but I am DRAWN to it.

Several years ago, my DH and myself, lived with my Dad while our house was under construction. My dad's house was built in the 1880s and has been in the family ever since.
There was only one space heater in the whole house and our bedroom seemed cold all the time.
I was cleaning the room and opened the door to allow heat to come in from the livingroom. While I was cleaning, the door slowly eased closed, and latched.
It closed so gently that it shouldn't have latched, but it is and old house & unlevel so you expect things like that to happen.
I opened the door again. After about 5 minutes the same thing happened again. Creeeeeeeek click.
I once again opened the door, but before my back was completely turned to the door to walk away, The door SLAMMED!

My G aunt lived there until she died about 5 years before. She was an "old maid" who never married and always kept the house closed up. She never allowed us, as children to go into other parts of the house.
I couldn't help but think of her. It was almost like she said "Let's close the door. Let's please keep the door closed. I SAID SHUT THE DOOR!"

Needless to say, I left the door shut.

Okay, well I thought I'd read online about this place once before, but I can't seem to find it now.

I grew up in northwestern IN, Jasper Co. specifically. I think every town, especially small towns, have their 'ghost stories' and 'tricks' similar to the one told before about going to the end of the road and hearing/seeing something? Jasper Co. had one of these, Moody Road. This story is not about Moody Road, but rather about a small, little known cemetery near there, or rather, two cemeteries...on opposite sides of the road. The locals called it 'Witches Corner'. I believe the most recent headstone in either cemetery was in the 80's (this was back when I was a teen), though the majority of the headstones were so old that they didn't even have full names, only first names and sometimes an initial. Hence, the reason it was named 'Witches Corner'.

Anyway, I don't remember exactly what was supposed to happen there, but one day something very odd did happen. Me, my sister, both our boyfriends, and a few other friends decided to go out there for a scare. It was daytime, no way in heck was I going to ANY cemetery at night, especially not that one! So we all got out of the car, but Ed (sis's bf) decided to leave it running. I don't know what made him decide that, but he did. So we are all looking around, checking out the old headstones. I suddenly felt 'weird' (I get 'weird' feelings a lot), so I decided to go and sit in the car and wait for the others to come back. While I was sitting there, I started getting these strange thoughts in my head that the car would suddenly jump out of gear and take off down the road...I was in the back seat. This freaked me out so bad that I reached over and turned the key off. Now, mind you, this car was not new and had seen better days, but this car never failed to start. A little while later, everyone got back in the car to leave...and what do you know? The car wouldn't start. Of course everyone started freaking out. Luckily, this was back when you could push-start automatic cars, so the guys decided to start pushing. They pushed that car for over 1/2 a mile going downhill before it ever fired up...

Of course we all thought it was the spirits, some of the others weren't being exactly 'respectful'

If anyone is interested in Moody Road, you can Google "Moody Road" or "Moody Lane" and find all sorts of info on that. It's been written about in books and has been on Unsolved Mysteries. The only thing I ever saw on that road was a skunk

I have another, but I'll wait

This one still scares me to this day, so I'll write it one day when it's not almost midnight
