Tell your 'what the heck was that thing?' scary story

But how did they both hallucinate it? This is one of the main stories on this thread that has stuck with me.

This, and the stickman, and the wierd human faced lion thing.....

I never said they WERE halluncinating, only that it SOUNDED like one and its very similar to some of the ones I get.

The story sounds extremely far fetched to me. I do believe in other things out there but there are lots of things that don't match up. Like why would the creature be hungry when it had so many dead animals all around it that it could have eaten. And why would anyone in their right mind, much less a child, walk up to a place like that. Especially when your instincts are screaming no.
And the thing that is making me the most skeptical is that the way this is written is just like a story/novel. Not a memory. You can easily tell the writing differences from other people's experiences. They sound like memories not a fantasy book.

I don't really have any experiences exciting enough to put here. I've seen a few spirits/ghosts and been able to tell when someone or something close to me has died. As well as being able to smell relatives who have passed.

Im thinking that it was some evil spirit trying to get them away. Dead animals. It just wants to kill, not eat, kill.

Dead animals. It just wants to kill, not eat, kill.

Then why did her story have this in it:
Apparently when I had gone to see what the things were all over the front lawn she had heard someone calling her name telling her we had to leave now, because they couldn't hold it back any more and it was hungry again.

I repeate myself, why would it be 'hungry again' when it had dead animals all over the yard that it hadn't and could have eaten!?!

First, let me clarify that I am not "defending" their story, you just got me thinking. I know that large carnivores often prefer to eat the organs, since there are more nutrients there. If it had hands... well, people gut animals, right?

My own nerdiness is starting to freak me out.

Okay, I started reading this thread last September (from the beginning) and have been amazed at some of the accounts that have been posted here. My story is pretty mild in comparison, but has stuck with me. I was 6 years old when it occurred. My great-grandmother had passed away and my mom and aunt had just returned home from attending her funeral in a neighboring state. It was about this time of year so the weather had made driving on the roads treacherous. I went to bed, but awoke to see a woman walking in the hallway toward my open bedroom door. (I shared a bed with my sister and we slept with the door open so we had light from the hallway) The woman was older with gray hair and dressed in a plain blouse and a long skirt. I thought that she was my grandmother. I smiled at her as she stood in the doorway watching me. Then it hit me, she's dead! So I sat up and said, "Grandma?" She opened her mouth to say something, but no sound came out. She then turned and walked away down the hall and went through the open door to the basement stairs, closing the door behind her. Now, the basement was a scary place when I was growing up. None of us kids would go down there alone, but we did play there as a group. I got up and followed her. I had my hand on the doorknob, but just couldn't make myself turn it and open the door. The next morning, I got up and asked my mom and aunt where grandma was. (I thought that it was horribly rude to have made her sleep in the basement). My mom was freaked out and told me that I was dreaming, but my aunt believed me and said that sometimes people make visits to those they love after they die. I don't know what I saw that night. I don't know if it was my grandma or another woman. (The Oregon Trail passed through this area). Or, as my mom suggested, maybe it was a dream . . .

i got two. one was back in germany when my husband i just dated. We and some other couples were just hanging in a barracks room having a good time. All sudden we heard a gun shot from a lower floor. Next thing you know we were all laying on the floor going for cover(they just had came back from Kosovo). What happend? A soldier on alwer floor went looney. He saw aliens landing on the soccer field across the street and went to defend himself. Another time we were just moving sitting in a empty house watching TV and all sudden a guy came racing by wearing nothing but boxer shorts and a wife beater shirt. Seconds later a cop ran by after him. Scared the crap out of my oldest. So bad that i had to call the police so they would talk to her and tell her that they caught the guy. Oh and in Youngstown i had a gang brawl in my yard , all out with knifes. I was scared because i knew my old jamaican neighbor has a machete she uses for gardening.

Something kind of like that happened to me, although I didn't really consider it cool/scary enough to post it earlier. There is some grasslands and then some woods behind my house. I've loved going in those woods since I was little. It's a peaceful, fun, and relaxing place except for this one time about two years ago. I was in the grassland about to go into the woods when I suddenly was hit by a really strong, suffocating sense of fear, kind of like in your story. I did a patrol of the edge of the woods, staying in the grassland, but I couldn't figure out what was so scary. I thought I was just being stupid and tried to go into the woods anyway, but I couldn't make myself do it. It was like there was something really horribly wrong in the woods that day. I left and didn't go back to the woods for a few weeks, and when I did I was half expecting to find a body or something

It was probably just me being crazy since I've never found the reason it was so terrifying that day, but your story reminded me of it.

We had just got done watching a scary movie and it was getting to be late dusk, I had to go shut up my birds. I hate doing it that late at night because of the weird noises and the scary trees, (yes I am a wennie).

I was bent over shutting the door when I heard this swish, swish, swish, sounded just like the movies, then I felt a touch on my back, I just about did the awful thing in my pants when I relize that it was only my burro behind me, she can walk real quite when she wants to and the swishing was the wild turkeys getting up into the trees to nest.

whoooo, that was a close call, I really felt stupid then, but now I try to shut everyone up about 1/2 hour before dark. And yes I am an adult, 51. geez

I think it's interesting too. I have never seen anything "unexplained" though. BUT, my mom has been telling me about something that has started up at her house.

Here it goes... she has a small dog, and she and the dog are the only ones in her house. She often finds her dog looking over her shoulder and his eyes are tracking something. It's like someone is behind her and the dog can see it, but my mom cannot. She called me one day in tears becuase she was so freaked out. I calmed her down , and since I believe in paranormal stuff, I told her if whatever it was, meant harm, her dog would probably be scared or growl. He never seems bothered, he just watches it. Sometime shis head jerks around, like "it" has startled him. It happens almost everyday though, and I think she finds it unnerving. I am trying to get her to take pictures and see if something appears on film.
