Tell your 'what the heck was that thing?' scary story

Weird one tonight.
Was standing at the till with a co-worker and we could hear people talking, but there were no customers in the store. Neither one of us wanted to check it out. We were the only 2 in the store.

Not sure if I shared this story before. Years ago we had a Siamese cat that was killed by our neighbors dogs. We got a different cat but it disappeared too. I fell asleep in our living room one night. I woke up and saw the Siamese chasing the other cat across the room right into the couch and they were both gone. really weird.

It's come back for revenge!!! :hmm But that's really weird...

Well, Sitting in the living room of a friends house relaxing after a long day. This is an old old farm house that has raised several generations of families. Well an empty wooden rocking chair began to rock back and forth, I laughed at first thinking he was just pulling a stunt, Turns out he wasnt. Scared the crud out of me.
Scariest for me was hitting a deer late one night coming home from a night watch shift, it happens in the country, I drive an old "beater" so there wasnt a whole lot of damage, but while preparing to toss it into the back of my truck (might as well not waste it) I heard an un godly growl/snort/bark looked to my left and there was a monster of a black bear that decided to challenge me for the deer, next thing to know I had somehow jumped into the back of the truck in one leap and was watching the beat drag it into the woods that were by the side of the road. 5 feet away from a 400+ pound black bear that was looking for a fight tends to get my heart racing.

I know about weird things in old houses. Our current house is over 100 years old.
I was sitting in the living room and heard the front door open and someone walk into the kitchen and on into our bedroom. I called out thinking it was DH. No answer. I get up and go look and no one was in the house but myself and DS who was a baby at the time.
Our old cat we had would look into the kitchen sometimes and then he would suddenly arch his back and fluff his tail out. Nobody was in there nor the dogs.
I have heard doors open and shut and nobody was around them.

That is very scary indeed! Good thing he just wanted the deer.

Some of these are really great and some sound so made up. Like an earlier poster said as if they were telling a "story". But I enjoyed reading them nonetheless.

Another one to scare your pants off....

I was just finishing pitching hay at night. It was about 8:00 when I finished rolling up the last of it into small square bales and stacking it in the corner of the barn. Then, the light in the loft flickered and went off. Great. I thought. We'd have to drive 5-6 miles to the hardware store to get one. But, since I knew the light bulbs burned out often, I had brought a high-power flashlight with me. I flicked it on and the beam shone on some hay in an unnoticeable (unless you are actually looking for it) corner behind a chest that held spare horse tack. I bent down to gather the forgotten hay into a pile and kick it into an already formed pile. But....the hay looked weird. Instead of straight, golden shoots, it was limp, soggy and faded tan. Oh boy....I thought.
I needed to get it out of there immediately. But before I could smoke started to leak out of the hay. I ran yelling to the house "Hay! Fire!". When my mom and dad were pulling on their boots I turned towards the loft window and saw flames through it. I started running towards it, trying to get the horses out in time. I bent my head down and ran,not wanting the smoke to invade my nostrils. But about halfway to the barn my parents caught up to me. I picked up my head to ask them where the hay was from but before I could there was no fire. And the barn had came out unscathed....

:hmm That freaked me out!!

So, dunno how into ghosts and supernatural stuff anyone here is but, I do home cleanseings and tarot readings to make some money. One time I was at the woman's house whose husband had passed not that long ago and she felt like he was still around, which in most cases would be okay, who doesn't want a passed loved one to stick around a bit? Well, I guess he was a major jerk or something, but she didn't want him hanging around. So I come in a get set up and do a reading to see if we can figure out why he's hanging around and get him to leave of his own accord before I push him out. As I'm talking with her about the cards I pull and trying to put them together to figure out the big picture I ask her if he was an upfront kind of guy. Did he let you know how he felt and what he wanted? Just as I finished asking it these bottles of wine she kept on top of her cabinets in the space between the top of them and the ceiling come crashing down. Not one or two, but four out of six or so just rash on the floor. I figured that answered my question.

She told me later those kinds of things happened a lot after he died. Someone would ask something about him and something would crash, or she'd tell someone something negative about him and something of hers would break. I could see why she wanted him out, even dead he was a jerk.

Another good one was when my dad and step-mom were renting this house from a friend of theirs. The friend warned them before they moved in that about a year earlier her great aunt and uncle had lived there and her great uncle had died there. Her aunt had been sick and spent her last few months in the hospital and died. About 6 months later her uncle died in the house. The whole family just knew it was one of those cases of a broken heart. Poor guy just couldn't keep going without her.
So my dad and step-mom move in and the house is great, lovely. Then weird stuff starts happening, like cups in cabinets being turned over, or dishes some how going from the sink to the floor. The weirdest involved this phone my step-mom had. It was this old phone that hung on the wall and was shaped like a coke bottle with the buttons on the bottom. You had to really jam the buttons and they'd beep each time pretty loudly. If someone didn't say hi to Uncle Rod every morning you'd start hearing the beep of the buttons being pushed. Ignore it and something would fall, usually a cup or something. Once I was alone and ignored it and as I walked out of the kitchen a pan on the counter hit the floor a good 6 feet from where it had been. He was big on manners and cleanliness.

Here's an odd thought. The houses on either side of mine are haunted. The house next to the one on right side of me is haunted and the one next to that is too. The fields back behind my house are haunted as well and so is the lot across the street from me. We have all these haunted areas and houses around me, but the oldest house in the neighborhood (mine, it's over 100 years old) is not haunted... nor do we have the occasional 'visitor'. We've even 'renovated' the house and still nothing. We even have a fairy ring at the back of the property, but nothing ever comes this far. Unless you count that one time when I heard a horse run past my window at 2 in the morning only to find my horse out in his field and perfectly calm.

I think there's something wrong with my house. Maybe my grandmother is still around and running everything off.

I doubt it, but it's a thought.

Edited because my laptop is stupid and decided to add an extra s to as.
