Ok East Tennessee Chicken Community,
I need some help. I'm the parent volunteer for the Blount County Poultry Project. I've got several kids that have lost nearly all of their project birds and may not have anything left after our annual show/sale. I'm trying to find folks that have RIR, BR, RSL, or BSL hatched around the end of March that would be willing to sell four or five to some of the kids.
Our problems started on Day one. We had the biggest participation in nearly 40 years so our hatchery order was really big. The hatchery sublet part of our order and nearly half our chicks had to travel from Pennsylvania to Texas and then on to us. We had a 65% shipping mortality rate. This bad start coupled with a very wet spring and bouts of cocciodosis and it just hasn't been a good year for the project.
Again, our project breeds are RIR (Well, prod reds), BR, RSL, and BSL. The chicks arrived the 3rd week of March, so if anyone has a few pullets of this age that they would be willing to sell, please reply or shoot me a private message and I'll get your name to the kids. I'm not trying to broker anything except information. All I'm doing is passing on your contact info and it will be up to the kids if they want to pursue the help.
Thanks,
Justin
