Hello everyone! I have been reading for a while but just now joined, so new to the site. The site seems to have lots of great folks who generous with their hospitality! Hats off that! (I am also a beekeeper and find the same in the beekeeping community) My wife and I were raised in Southwest Georgia. I have been offered a position (work) in Knoxville, that I am seriously considering. We have been up to the area 3 times to look at real estate with the criteria that we can have chickens and bees. We have been trying to keep the price at or below $200,000 and for a house that does not require massive amounts of immediate work. From what we are told we would HAVE to be in an unrestricted, non-HOA area.Beacause I would be driving into Knoxville for work, we have been looking in the Maryville, Seymoure area. It seems the pickings are slim to none. Can anyone PLEASE suggest other areas to consider, or even a realtor that may specialize in small county home steads, or tiny farms, please? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I drive about 95 miles north to go to their educational programs from my area (near Chattanooga) as the programs my club offers are more centered around mentorship to a smaller group, while the BCBA opens theirs to all comers. They have a cadre of dedicated volunteers, I recommend hooking up with them post haste once you are in the area, even if you land outside of Blount County. Were I closer, I would be a member. I attended a woodenware workshop yesterday, the presenter did not live in Blount County but a neighboring county and was a member of his home county's club as well as the BCBA.

Welcome, hope you find what you're looking for in Knoxville. I used to live north of there (Jacksboro) which is probably a bit far out for you. But just to the north side is Powell. There's a lot of area out there or used to be, so it may be an area to check out. Depends a lot on what part of town you'll be working. Good luck.

You could try Blount County and Anderson County. Powell is a good suggestion, it is part Anderson County and part Knox County.

I have serama-smooth, frizzled, and silkied. [COLOR=B42000] [/COLOR] [COLOR=B42000] [/COLOR] [COLOR=B42000] [/COLOR] [COLOR=B42000] [/COLOR] Japanese hen with serama chicks I also have a single pair of Japanese bantams. A clutch of their eggs should be hatching in a couple of weeks. Most of my extra birds have been sold. I may have a few 2 month old serama pullets to sell; I'll check when I feed the flock a bit later. I know I do not have any silkied to sell at this time, but some of the smooth feathered carry the silkied recessive gene. I do have some young frizzled, smooth serama roosters to sell. Are you looking for show quality or pet quality? My birds are healthy and beautiful, but not show birds.

They only have chicks at the TSC and COOP, some may be pullets, bit they will be less than 3 weeks old usually
