Tennessee

Hey everyone! I'm originally from the UK and my SO is originally from Cleveland Ohio. We've lived in asheville for a while but now living in Afton TN. I'm looking for some australorp or cream legbar day olds somewhat locally. It seems TSC is a bit of a liability so just wondering if anyone would know where is best to look around the East TN /West NC area?

Hello. This hatchery is in your area:
Mother Hens

Or try the farmers COOP. I have pretty good luck with theirs chicks. Theres one in Hamblen, Jefferson, Sevier, Cocke, and Knox counties. I don't know if there is one in Greene Co or not. The one in Grainger Co does not sell chicks.

I've ordered online chicks from Tractor Supply and had good luck but Tractor Supply was really out of the equation on that deal. Basically it was the hatchery, mailman, and me.

Rural King in Morristown has chicks too. I haven't bought any from them but I do see chicks with pasty butt there alot, so be wary of that.

Just know what your chicks are supposed to look like and you may not have any problems with getting the wrong ones.

Thank you for the response. Mother hens hatchery seems to be closed. Its up for sale and from what I can see last year was their last run of chicks. Which is so sad. We are weary of the online/postal method. We also have tried our local co-op to no avail. Although we haven't tried neighbouring counties so maybe that's our next place to start trying. Ultimately us having this struggle only strengthens my desire to star breeding one day.

Thanks again guys and girls.

Ah. I didn't know that.

I would order through the mail again if I need to. I may change my mind on the next round though. I'm the kind of person that likes to see what I'm buying and don't like to order online but sometimes you just can't help it.

Definately contact the neighboring CO-OPs. They are not the same store as the next one as I thought they were too. Simply give them a call and ask what chicks they have. Fairly nice people.

This is my co-op chick schedule. We are around an hour away from afton tn

Wow what luck! You guys are great! We checked Washington Co. co-op and they had a few australorp left so we hot footed it up there and grabbed the last 2 and an iffy Ameraucana (chick was in a brooder labeled BSL and Ameraucana it wasn't fully black like the other chicks so we figured it might have been the last Ameraucana) That being said we were hoping for more which leads me to my next question (newbie so sorry for all the asks, let me know if I should be asking elsewhere). If we get more chicks, that my be a few days apart from the few we got today, is it okay to have them in the same brooder? Or could it cause problems with fighting?
