Hey HBuehler! Why must you make those of us who want fuzzy butts, but can't, so JEALOUS??? I'm trying soo hard to get DH to buy me a small incubator but he says we have no money right now. I was looking at either the Brinsea Advance Mini or Brinsea Octagon 20 Eco, they're on sale on the website www.brinsea.com right now!

Just one small bator...won't work need BIG bator or lots of small bators. We have 5 cheap styro bators with near 100% hatches every time so I don't spend money on the more expensive ones..save that money for more birdies

Tonight 63 went into lockdown I didn't pay any attention to these and didn't realize so many were in for another big hatch.. My next hatches will be much smaller.
I can fix the chick thing for you though..we have a few that could take a road trip..I meant a few dozen

I'm seeing some real pretty Roos from Jens Bantam Ameraucana's I'm not keeping any..Splash so far!
White Olive Egger ..seeing some Roos already and we have matching pullets(I think)

I have the Brinsea Octagon 20 and LOVE it! Just right for 'reasonable' batches of babies, and it's handled staggered hatches like a dream!

WELL, I was looking into getting one of those huge cabinet style incubators, but that's way too much (in money and in size/energy/#of chicks). I used a styrofoam one before (my neighbors) but I didn't like it (it did okay on the hatches but you can't see enough!)

I figured I could get a small one like the octagon 20 eco and keep the numbers down every hatch

or go even smaller with the mini and just get 1 at a time when I have the money. I only need a small one b/c my neighbor is paying on a cabinet style one and will have it at the beggining of spring and will let me incubate eggs with the 50/50 deal or $3 a dozen. I'm just starting out and havn't really wanted to get too many chicks at once, so cheap and small is my thinking.

The eco or advance? I can't afford the advanced version, or the one with the auto turn cradle. I think I can remember to turn them myself though.

I have the eco, and I work so I went ahead and got the turner. It definitely does more than I could in the mornings and afternoon/evenings.

I thought I'd post here that I have some White Face Black Spanish bantams (1 roo and 4 hens) and bantam Polish (1 roo and 4 hens) for sale. I also have a BB Red Rosecomb Pair for sale and a White Rosecomb pair for sale. I'm located in Church Hill up near the TN/VA border. I have to go out and get pics of them tomorrow.

Morning all! For the second day in a row I awoke to temps 10+ degrees above what our fine weather folks predicted, LOL! No snow or rain here (yet?), and we have a shy sun peeking through a tiny hole in the grey sky. Nice to have it above freezing. . .

believer01, welcome! There are lots of enablers here. Watch out for HBuehler. She's trouble.

TNTruly, I just always loved those white faced black Spanish bantams. Wish I had more space!

mema, hope you are feeling well today, and that you are getting your house in order. Things are always a little easier when you have the house stuff under control and everything is nice and neat. Or at least, that's what I'm told. I never seem to get there.

For any who are just now checking in, CityGirlintheCountry is kindly organizing a get-together of any TN folks who can make it out to Murfreesboro on Saturday, January 15 at 1 p.m. Looks like it will probably be at Las Palmas - - please folks correct me if I am wrong.

Here's the poll where the lunch was discussed:

It will be a great chance to meet others who are as nutty as you are! Hope we can get a good turn out. I know I would love to meet all of you in person!

I'll be in M'Boro weather permitting and after a cookie rally that morning..first a pile of giggly girls then a bunch of crazy chicken people...it's going to be one heck of a fun day
celebrate.gif

This crazy person may end up driving to nearly FL to pick up some chicks that I bought months ago...apparently they just hatched because now it's too cold to ship unless it's above 30...gee it's been that way for weeks and they were promised the first week in Dec no later than the second week. That week in the Bahamas we had around New Years would have worked
he.gif
. If I go I'll have to make it worth while...drop some off and stop by Nancy's(Bargain) and pick up eggs or chicks.Or I wait until Spring and get them shipped
idunno.gif

Off to the feed store I must go...anyone want to pay my feed bill? Between the chickens and the old horses feed being near $40 a hundred I'll accept donations and even give you a rooster as a thank-you
