Test Incubation: Due to hatch 12/19 (including eggtopsies **graphic pictures**)

The eggtopsies were less gross then I expected.

I found it informative.

I am glad to see so many are still in the bator!

Also a little jelly of LG's kettle corn. :lau
Yup, I just cracked the eggs into a bowl.

A little fair warning, I had one egg squirt me (no worries, it wasn't smelly or anything). I didn't crack it open enough before trying to pry open the shell. It seems like the contents of the eggs become more liquid than the ones we keep at room temp. So if you try it, make sure you get a good sized crack in the egg before trying to pry it open.

Rae, I never did eggtopsies until my last hatch. I had eggs on day 25 with no movement, etc. So into the compost bin they went. Those that hatched between day 20 & 22 had already gone to the brooder. A half hour later we hear chirping from the compost bin. So back in the bator she went... And she's running around the pasture today.

Some I open, some I don't. I don't bother with early quitters now, but i do believe it's something everyone should do a few times. When i do open late quitters, I usually smack the air cell with the back of a spoon and open slowly. Seen too many people open live ones they thought were dead. So if there's any chance... caution is advised lol

I do like to open some late ones to look for malpositions, deformities, etc.
