Oh I'm good now, I just had the breeds reversed. I didn't look at the legs on the grown orloffs :/
The Russians are tan and chipmunked too, so I assumed. So ACTUALLY..the dark girls are the EEs. They look like Little Hawk did when she was a chick. And are fluffier than the Faverolles
They won't know, I just switched their names

I don't know how many lbs the batch made. I didn't measure. Good idea though!

I think I am going to order the books. They have a special for all 4 right now. It's a pretty good deal.

Just doing a quick check in. I've got a lot to do today. It's so hot outside!! I'll be glad when fall finally gets here.

I got my eggs for sale sign done yesterday, or almost done. Still need to put a hanger on it and hang it out. I'm getting overrun with eggs, and I just cant eat anymore per day! LOL

Fall baking time is near. Just think of all the goodies you can bake with fresh eggs.


I have almost finished my diamonds for the porch. Just one more coat of blue paint to go and then a few touch ups here and there on the brown. I need to find someone to help me put them up. This is one job I can't do alone.


I made crabapple jelly yesterday afternoon. I haven't ever made jelly before. It's time consuming, but fun and it turned out great.

Now I need to make some oatmeal bread for toast.

No, they are tiny - about the size of a shooter marble, and sour.

Fun! Paint was just on sale Labor Day weekend at Lowe's and HD, did you get some?

Are you talking about Horse Apples? It's called a Osage orange or a bois d'arc around here. I had one in my yard but cut it down. Very messy tree. My neighbors have one - thankfully they are downhill from me. They are hard to kill. I'd love to have a male tree, but they are hard to find.

How is Cash doing? And the new babies?

Not yet. He's coming down this week so I'll probably have Josh ask him them if he minds. I don't see why he wouldn't. It'll update it so much...
Plus I know for a fact he doesn't mind the chickens lol.
My Mother in law is so against them and I guess she talks to him..and brought them up nd he was like "I don't mind, I'd probably have some myself if I still lived there!

Cash is back to his annoying self. I'm really having a hard time with the puppy stage. I have to remind myself it'll pass.

It was the same with Archer..there was like a 3 month period where I could barely stand him lol.

The babies are good! They've outgrown their first brooder box, and are moving into their bigger brooder tonight
I feel like I'm having decent luck. They're almost 2 weeks and my EEs and Faverolles still look like pullets. and I'm pretty sure at least one Australorp is. I don't know much about the Russians, I'll have to research more on sexing those.

Quiet week around here. What's everyone been up to?

Isn't this cooler weather great?! I can get back to painting this weekend. I want to finish the house. I hate that it is half done.
