Hey everyone..... I know I feel off the planet!!
I hope everyone is doing well.  Thank you JellyBean for the email.  Nice to know you are missed. 
So a quick up date..... My granddaughter is now 1 1/2 and the love of my life, don't tell hubby.  My oldest son is NOT getting married now and he is moving into a house next door to us once he gets it remodeled.  He is still working in the oil business and is doing really good.  My baby how ever graduates in May and then leaves for Navy Bootcamp July 14th.  So I have now been promoted from mom to Navy mom and I am SO proud of him. 

My chicken numbers have grown and decreased due to births, snakes and give aways.  LOL 
BTW, if you have a snake problem.... kill it and then burn it in a can of some sort in the coop and you wont have any more snakes for a very very long time.  It does work. 

I have had 2 hen go broody this winter and they have hatched 11 chicks..... black sex link, RIR, BCM, Silkie and Silkie mix I think.  The first one I let her hatch some to see what kind of momma she would be and it was so exciting to watch.  She was a great mom.  The last 4 hatched last week and I thought I had gather up all her eggs but as it turns out Ms Puff, my Silkie had 4 hid out from me.  They are so cute.  I will post pics later.  So NOW what do I want...... I want an incubator and I am trying to build one. 

Has anyone here built one yet?? 

Yes I made one out of an old ice chest it is working great here is a few pic of the out side. I will go on lockdown tomorrow and will get some pics of the inside then.

Hello everyone hope everyone is staying dry. I got me a new rooster he is a english splash Orpington. I am looking for Black Orpington hens,pullets, or chicks around Tyler or with in a 100 miles or so.

I will keep my eyes open. Hey I hear you built a incubator!! I too am trying g to build one but I am NOT as smart as you when it comes to motor stuff. Here a link to my post of questions I have. If you have a chance do you think you could see if you can answer any of them??

I am looking through things to pick up for my chickens.  I 'rediscovered' this waterer and was wondering if anyone ever tried it. I love that you can attach it to just about any water jug.  

I think a 5 gallon jug would be good for 6 hens, wouldn't it?

Hey girl, I haven't used that but I took a 25 gallon bucket and put the horazonal nipples on the bottom edge of it and it works great for my bamtons!

Heading to the auction today in Athens to see what they have. Not planing on picking anything up but who knows what they bring in. With it being cold not sure how many chickens show up for sell. With my bator being full for the next 2 weeks I can not get any eggs this time. I have 2 doz Blue Copper Maran eggs coming in 2 weeks. Out of this I am only keeping no more then 10 hens. I am looking for another doz so I can get a rooster from a different blood line. If anyone has Blue Copper Maran eggs in 2 weeks let me know.

Hey do you have any olive eggers?? I had one and she became sick and died. She was my Hubby's favorite one and I need some more. Lol I don't understand the olive egg chickens. Here is a Pic of her. Do they all look like her??

Ok well I will have to get on computer to post it. Phone not working. But I am noo clear on this breed.

Not sure if You can tell much in the picture. This is when she got sick. I had her in a hospital room but hubby wanted her. He really like that girl.

No all of the Olive eggers do not look the same. They are made from breeding different breeds together like a Maran rooster/ cream legbar hen can be any combination of dark brown egg layer rooster over blue egg layer hen. The darker the brown and blue the more Olive the egg. I maybe able to find you some how many are you looking for? And at what age.

I am not sure. I guess it depends on what they look like. I wish I could figure out what Olive Oils breeds were. LOL I may have to ask the person I bought them from. Not sure if he will tell me. Now I am faced with the challenge of breeding and making them. LOL It seems you might understand that creative interest. LOL If I could just get more like her I would want a rooster and about 3 hens. Then I could work on making different depths of egg color. LOL
