Texas BYC Cafe

Thanks for the update. I was wondering what had happened. I knew her DH was due back, but it has been a while since she posted and was beginning to wonder. :)
I just looked back at the email from her. Hubby headed back to work already. Not sure why she hasn't been on.

I've wondered about that. We had a parrot that had both dishes for water and a water bottle for birds. He preferred the dishes and rarely used the water bottle.

I bought the paint for my house today. It's on sale (with a rebate) at Home Depot. 10 gallons of paint, plus 1 quart (trim accent for the porch) = $419.40.

Exterior paint is a lot more expensive than interior paint!

I'm power washing the garage tonight (I hope) and then painting on Saturday. Sunday. And.... Rain is in the forecast for Monday so I am not sure when I will finish. Maybe I will take Friday off too.
Are you painting the brick? Or just the wood?

I'm so excited!!
They are so funny. It sounds cheesy but I'm so proud of them! lol
They are great foragers and always run around in a little "herd". They remind me of a little pack of raptors...but much cuter. They've had free reign of the yard for a bit and we haven't had any issues!
I think they will be a great addition to your flock!

The garage is all wood. When I do the house I will only paint the trim. I've been told it is bad to paint brick. It traps the moisture in it and makes it crumble.
Power washing is fun, but boy do you get dirty! The garage paint looks better (except where it is missing) and I did the back side of the house as well. Mold is gone and hopefully won't come back and the brick looks so clean. I'll do the rest when I get closer to painting the house. I thought the garage would be easier to do.

Oh, the chicks sound great! I can't wait to get mine. :)

I have to share this so someone on here can get these really cute plates. It says she has 4 more available too.

I think Atwoods still has chicks. I saw an ad last week and they were in there. Horaney's in Longview always has chicks.

Thanks for the recipe Harley. I'll have to try that and see how it does. Wonder how well it works on poison ivy?

We are finally getting some rain here this morning. Only got a sprinkling yesterday late, but it is beginning to wet the ground here now.

My chicks are now 13 & 14 weeks old. So, if the earliest we can expect eggs is around 18 to 24 weeks, I have another 4 to 10 weeks before first arrival. It seems like I have had them forever! lol

Good Morning!

We got 3" yesterday along with high winds. A lot of big branches down, blew a pole down in the chicken pen, tore my flag pole in half, and blew the top of two trees down. Still coming down! I LOVE IT! Our yard is a big pool but I DON"T CARE. We needed this.
