Ah Laurie im sorry. I completely missed those beautiful sunflowers! Great job!!

Theres a lady in Conroe that breeds them. She wasn't very responsive after I told her where I was...lol
i may just call her up when I know when im going to be down and pick some up then. Then it a just a 4 1/2 hour drive home...lol.
but I could get aome heat packs and gro gel and they'd probably do fine..
If you car has a outlet pug in it you can take a heating pad and use it on top of the box and make sure you have holes on the top and sides of the box, or turn your heat warmers on if you have them.
Coming home from the post office the other day, I had a couple of stops to make so I turned the seat warmer on, put a towel over the seat where the box was like in a tent and it worked pretty well. Oh and turned the AC vents off on that side of the truck.

Oh gosh, I totally think they'd be fine on the ride home. If you get a small box, they'd squish up together.

So we had spaghetti for supper and I took the left over noodles out to the chickens. I put a couple of strings in with the chicks..... OMG I laughed so hard. One picked one up and took off running and chirping and he had 5 running after him. It was so cute. I then realized that they do all remind me of the kid fish in the Nemo movie. LOL

So I was looking at the Nemo movie and the little pink/purple squid kind of looks like the little lav O that escaped with my male cream legbar. So he will be called Nemo and the Lav. O will be called Pearl! The rest of the chicks will be names one of the following depending on their sex....and what fits them. LOL

What ya think???

@A1momof3 ~ Glad you found your chicks and I think Nemo is a great name!

@Ms Jellybean ~ Love your sunflowers! Sadly, mine never did come up. :( My granddaughter was so disappointed. I told her we would try again next year.

@Brookshire11 ~ Hope you find a good babysitter. They are hard to find.

@lovingmyhens ~ How are your new additions doing?

Hi Lisa! How have you been doing?

Anyone seen Harley or Hung lately? They seem to be hiding. :)

Tonight was the beginning of roost training. Some would fly down as fast as I would put them up there. I did get 8 to stay on the roost tonight. My little runt/dwarf Orp, Buffy, Arnet my tailess eagle, the red/gold EE, all 3 of my BRs, one other Orp and one of my SLW. I'm going to sneak out there in the morning when DH leaves for work and see how many stayed the night. The rest got in a huddle in the corner under the brooder. Silly things!

My granddaughter and I watched it last weekend. Just love that movie. I need to find out what the other fish are named in that movie.... the ones in the school. LOL

Have you looked for a individual breeder?

Your flowers are beautiful. I love sunflowers!! Are they are to grow?

Cleaned the barn out today and organized all the tools. It was so hot and for the first time since we lived here we saw a copper head. It slithered up right under our uncles foot. My hubby nearly ran me over to get out of the way.... every man, women and child for him self. My son and I were the only ones with out shoes on and we went for the hoe I had the shovel and we killed it. LOL Hadn't seen my hubby move like that in years! LOL
You need to be careful with copperheads! My neighbor got bit by one on his ankle and needed two days in ICU and 5 bags of anti-venom.
Sunflowers are easy - as long as the birds don't get the seeds - just toss them out and water them. :)

You can try again now for a fall harvest of sunflowers.

It is so funny your chicks won't roost. How old are they now? Do you have some lower perches? Maybe they are afraid of heights. ;)

Nathan bought the new hatch for his car yesterday. He and Trevor drove to Fort Worth to pick it up. He got a good deal on it and still has a lot of money left to paint it.

I haven't seen them lately, at least not on this thread. They maybe hanging on the other Texas thread nit sure.
My Silkies don't roost. All the rest of my folk do but they are in their own pen and they just snuggle up to gather in their little living area. Lol I'm sure once I get the bigger coop build and my other smaller chicks get old enough for them to all house to gather they will. As long as a few if them will roost the others will follow suit..... I think...,, I hope! Lol

I've got a turtle named squirt and another one named crush!! Love this movie!! My new marans are named after the girls in the sequel to Sarah, plain and tall. That's a really fabulous book Keiki and I read and then watched the movie together. The sequel is called skylark. The girls are Sarah, she's the head of the littles, Anna, and Cassie. The other one I can't remember, but we just call them the littles!

That's good Laurie! Really glad he's going to come out ahead on this one.

I have looked for breeders. I looked there first. I was abe to talk to two. But one is in Ohio, and her birds are gorgeous, but I'm afraid it will be too hot. I read shipping mid summer is just as bad as shipping mid winter. And the way my chicks arrived last time..it freaks me out lol
The lady in Conroe only has hatching eggs right now.

Yeah you're right...

Not sure if it helps or not but I just had 11 shipped to me and they were all good and healthy. I think breeders take more pains with shipping their birds. Hey I think Papa poultry had the ones you are looking for.. Let me check.
