hmmm are the wheels spinning?? thinking about how you are going to get back to your maximum??

Brynn - you should get some Delawares. They are awesome layers and they look really cool. :)

Ladies, my wheels are ALWAYS turning lol
It really is an addiction haha
I'll have to look at Delawares.. I do want to lean more towards quality with my future birds.
I LOVE my hatchery girls, but I'm wary of shipping now.
Probably more Orps, a Jersey Giant, and whatever else? I was considering Turkens too.
I like variety

Id also like to try more heritage breeds, to see the laying difference.
I've got about 8 months to figure it out lol

I haven't been able to source local Delawares but D&L carries them. I also want to get some Buckeyes. I don't think they got them in this year though.

I want to go with Heritage breeds. I've read they lay a lot longer than regular breeds. Breeder birds will also lay longer than hatchery birds.

I sure hope I can get chicks next spring.... I wonder if I can get my neighbour to keep some chicks for me. She has 3 hens and some ducks. What's a few more?? ;)

Famous last words lol
I'm sure out of 2 BO' and a Silkie, ONE of them is bound to go broody, so I'm hoping to hatch out some eggs.

My little Silkie Roo went to his new home yesterday!
The girl was about my age and had 35 chickens! She said when she saw my post she was so excited because she had a group his age and she'd been wanting a Silkie forever. So I know he'll be spoiled.
I know giving away birds doesn't always end happily but I feel so lucky to have found homes for both my roos that I feel good about.
Especially my little Silkie man...he is just too sweet!
