Guess what!!!!!!

One on the left is from one of my Plymouth Rocks and the other is a store bought large!!
I'm so excited. All my family said was it sure is small!
Of all the nerve!!! Lol

Yea! We got eggs on the same day!!!

They do have nerve! Would they want to lay a ginormous egg on the first try?

I know I said well if you were to lay an egg how big would you want it up be for your first egg!!! Lol they just looked at me and shook their heads! Well I'll beshaking my head when I cook breakfast and I have the good egg!! Lol

Found the girls outside tonight going nuts eating something. It was egg yolk..found the egg white too..but no shell at all. Had to 've been Little hawk, she's the only one who didn't lay today.no bllood but I did a preemptive Epsom salt soak. What else should I do??

I wouldn't worry!!

Maybe it was one of those "shell less" eggs they have sometimes when they first start laying? You can find other causes here.

I agree, don't worry. When I was growing up our chickens would have eggs that were only held together with the membrane no shell. It was weird looking but we just feed them shell and all was good. I give mine egg shells I use in the house and I am going to get a bag of oyster shell this week also.

I just really looks great. How are things with Nathan? I use Scotts weed and feed on my lawn. I actually used it in the back yard with the chickens...just put some down where it was the worst and put a wire fence kinda thing around it and watered the heck out of it to get the fertilizer down in the soil and out of reach of the chickens.

The only thing I've heard from him is that he plans to get his computer soon and I shouldn't touch it.
I use Scott's Turf Builder on my lawn. I read in Neil's Sperry's news letter that we shouldn't water the lawns right now due to the watering restrictions until Fall. At the rate my grass that I do have is growing that is fine by me. I need to mow it every 4-5 days right now. I don't have time for that so it is really long when I mow it once a week.

Look what I found today!





It's my 2nd egg, but the first from my "keeper " chickens! Whoever laid it had checked out 3 of my nests, they were all messed up. I guss she didn't like them, so laid it in the run. I put hay in 3 of the nests to see if they prefer hay over shavings.

Oh wow. Be sure to have some mustard handy in case they start to eat more eggs.

I painted for 10 hours today. I got the side and the front finished. I was beat after all that time up and down the ladder so I didn't get the lawn mowed. Or the house cleaned. Another day for that...




I got injured too. I never thought about the ladder cutting me. Falling off, yes. Getting cut? Never.
