I have 2 hens sitting. One is sitting on 7 eggs and I am going to let her hatch those and quit. I have one that has just gone broody and sitting on a couple. I have room for a few if you hurry..... OK, just went out and checked and the 2 eggs she was sitting on are in the box cold and she is in the next box over. This is her first time and I'm not sure if she has the hang of it yet. It might be a risky move. Let me see what she does in the next couple of days.hey wanna rent me a broody?!?!?!?!

Quote: Nope, cheap chicken wire, in side of a dog chain like fence.
Quote: Would a squirrel do that? That is the only thing other than roadrunners and rabbits that I have seen.
Could be a fox we live out by the airport and we have them around here, I haven't seen any raccoons but they will kill just to kill and they are sneaky!!! We put that small wire around the bottom and the bigger chicken wire around the top. So far we haven't had any problems while there in the pin it has all been when they are free ranging, now with the guineas that has stopped.Nope, cheap chicken wire, in side of a dog chain like fence.

Snake will try to swallow the chick. When it can't because its jaw won't stretch enough, it will disgorge the chick, but by this time the chick has suffocated. Lost one last year at about this time. Nylon bird netting can entangle snakes. Sorry you lost your chick.Need help, what kills a chick but does not break through the wire.
