Texas

Shoot my post died.

I have 3, just got them last week. Out of all my chickens they are hardest to catch. They seem smart. Super cute. The rooster is very protective of his girls already.

Is this a guinea egg? I found it this morning! Almost overlooked it as it was in a usually unused box

Ok ya'll... I totally messed up

We got our chicks 3 weeks ago.. I brought them inside and used a heating lamp at night. They are now use to 85-90 degrees as I have them in a hotter room and have the air shut off directly in that room. I have recently took them out of the (getting small fast) brooder and have moved them to a watermelon box inside but my question is.. how do I get them use to these triple digit texas temps? Am I just going to have to wait until the temps lower and have adult chickens running around my house?

Should I gradually get them use to the hotter temps by putting them out and watching for distress? Oh I am such a new mom at this! Anyone have any tips?

I would toss them outside.. shallow pan of water and plenty of shade.. monitor for the first few days for excessive panting (spray them and their pen down with the hose or mist as needed).. and let them dig into the cooler damp ground

If you are hesitant about leaving them outside all day then leave them for a few hours the first day.. a few more the second and so on
