I have to say I am getting really sick of this heat. It was 107 yesterday, hopefully it stays a little lower today.

The girls all have frozen bottles of water, but I can't get them to drink water from their waterer. It's in the shade but it still heats up.

Trying to decide between getting an outdoor fan, or a mister. We're not home during the day so I have to get something that can be outside in case it starts to rain or something.

If you are using the big plastic water-ers with the domes - fill 2/3-3/4 with water and freeze overnight. In am, fill rest with cold (preferably from frig) water and put out for the chickens. The ice will melt during the day but it will stay cooler than jus putting in water.

Can also try nipples in 5 gal buckets - can put frozen bottles in the water to keep water cooler. I also wrap the buckets with reflective air-bubble insulation wrap.

Am having good luck with wading pools staying cool - even the one that is in the sun for part of the day. Am using the big black rubber bowls from Tractor Supply with about a gallon of water in it - changing it out everyday but the pool water is staying cool to touch even when I go to change it out around 3 pm, so might be worth a try for you too since they like to wade and drink it. I just add a bit of cider vinegar to it to help since they do poop in it sometimes.

Yay, my first pic I was able to post! Anybody have any idea what this tiny little girl is? I got her from McMurray in a surprise mix. I have three that I am unsure what they are. Oh I am so excited I can post pics. Hope you guys like pics cause I'm gonna run out in this heat and take some more.
