Have you head of a bird sale/auction in Iduma Tx which is helt on the 2nd sunday of each month. I recieved a notice listing the sale, the directions say 12 miles south of Killen and 7 miles north of Florence off Hwy 195 turn west on Briggs Rd at Community Baptis Church. Flyer says check in 7 am Pre sale begins after after cages have been checked in, auction at 12:00 noon. It says they sale all kinds of birds poultry and small animals, incubators and equipment.

I went there once and was not impressed. I took some Millie Fleur roos and some frizzle roos and they went for $1 each. I said no thank you, took my birds back and left. I am too much of a softie and could not leave my boys there.

How did you get a notice about the sale ? I would love to get on a show and sale list.​

I understand there is a small animal auction three miles north of Athens on 19 thats about what the sell for there also. Not for me my wife and I quite going. I got the notice from a lady that emailed it to me off of craigs list killeen/temple. You know I sell a lot of pullets and hens on the waco and dallas site of craigs list. I incubate eggs from my birds and grow them out for layers, you would not believe the number of people who keep layers in town. It does help pay for the feed. Thanks for the info about the bird sale, I think I ll talk the wife into going in Dec if it is not too cold. Thanks for the Pet chickens of Texas site, I love it. Thanks Again Johnny

BTW, the auction near Athens, do they have birds there? Any mroe details on it?

Welcome Billy,
We also retired to the country (read your other post) and we would never go back to the city again. Different work, but a lot more rewarding.

Between this site and the other BYC forum, we have over 350 members in Texas. When I first joined, it was hard to find anyone around with chickens. Now there is a whole group of us in central Texas alone.

I haven't seen this thread in a while! the_chicken_ranch I am just down in Kaufman!!! Jeez I should subscribe to this thread so I learn more about who's near me! I've been left out of the Texas loop by my own doing!

I live 30 minutes south of Tyler, TX. I have only lived here a year but I love it. It is so beautiful. I was born in California and have lived in SC, GA, FL and Okinawa, Japan. But I don't think I will ever leave Texas!
