I am going to relax. But I DO need a bigger coop. I am near SA. Do you know of anyone that has a coop? I have looked on craigslist and the only listings are like $1000.
I can spend a few hundred, but not over $500. A nice coop would solve my stress, where I could be able to go out of town and leave them in there for a day or two. What I am using now is too small for 10. It was perfect for the 3 I had originally and it is perfect to shut all 10 in at night, but too small to leave them in there for a day. That rooster would go nuts!

Free to good home. They are nice and healthy, hill country free range chickens. I want to keep my original 3 hens and 2 more. And give away 5: the large, pretty rooster, 2 black ones, one white, and this other fluffly greyish one.

I wish I had a big coop ... I only have 3 silkies and they have a little 3x4x4 coop they sleep in w an attached run, but I wish I had just picked up an old shed and made a full size coop for them. Instead of searching for coops maybe search on craigslist for sheds or children's playhouses. I also tend to find more chicken stuff in Austin, rather than San Antonio.
I bought a 6x6 Flowerhouse pop up green house on the internet for about $150 ... it is supposed to be for my plants but my chickens love it and spend alot of the cold days in there. It blocks the wind and heats up pretty good for them. Its probably not very predator proof but then again, in am in the middle of downtown in a backyard so I don't have to worry tooooo much about predators.
But now that you are down to just 5... maybe you are good for a while with your current set up!
Yes, I am good with what I have now. I have a medium sized shed with a cement floor with shavings and hay and nesting boxes and it is ventilated, and I shut them in at night and let them roam during the day. And it is large enough that 5 can stay in there if necessary for a day with no problem. 10 including a large rooster would have been chaos, but 5 hens are perfect.
Looking for Texans who show and breed their stock. DH and I want to go to a few shows this year to learn more about it.. then we will be looking for some show stock to breed ourselves. Still have not decided on exactly which breed though. Just looking to learn!
Currently we have 6 BR - for egg production ... and for entertainment purposes as well!
