don't know what I'd do I with a LV purse. I'd be too afraid or use it.
I think we can use this big LV bag to carry eggs where bicycle delivery is feasible. :)

Hello everyone!

Well, I am about to be moving down to El Paso in a few months.  I have to move into an apartment (not happy about that but there isn't much I can do about it).  Is there anyone in El Paso who sells eggs?  I don't think I could stand going back to store bought after having fresh eggs for the last three years.

Also, any tips for a new-to-Texas family?  I have a DH and two DS's (one 2 1/2 year old and a 9 month old).  Recommends on good pediatricians and vets in the area would be a bonus.  It took me a year to find a pediatric doc that I like.  :/

Gosh I wish I could help you out! I'm strictly a south Texas girl and have no knowledge of west Texas. I hope someone sees your post and can help you out.

But welcome!

I went riding today. Not cycling though. :) A friend invited me out to the barn for some horse therapy so my son and I decided to go there instead of cycling. We had a nice time despite the cold. It was in the 40's with a north wind. Brrr!!!! I was really bundled up and still cold! Such a beautiful horse! And you look like I do when it's 65 degrees out. When it's in the 40's and lower, we are so bundled up you can hardly see us! Trevor had never ridden a horse that wasn't a "trail" horse before. He had fun. :)

lovingmyhens, I understand what you are saying.

I am 67 now, love being my own boss, not looking for some one to share my last part of life, but if he did show up I would give him a second look.... Or 3. My story is different, but ending sup at the same place. I am a package, when I was 51 a different package but a package never the less. I would have to accept a partner on the same terms, he would be a package as well. I have -0 chance of running into anyone here. Never had anyone wonder thru my boat when I have been fishing....... Now for me after so many years thinking about all the work that is in a relationship..... May be, there are rewards.

My Clare, an EE, my only real pet chicken, blow out her feathers in this molt. I thought she might be sick she looked so bad. When I examined her more closely she was fine, she is all pin feathers growing in. I gave her a bath, thought it might loosen some of the feather casings and maker more comfortable. The bath went rather well. My hair drawer would not turn on...

Clare was rolled up in a towel, it is cold out side, what could I do? I rushed to the drug store, grabbed the same hair dryer, got to the counter. As I handed the girl the money I said, "I am in a hurry, I have a wet chicken at home. Just gave her a bath and my hair dryer is broken". She looked at me and said, "Chicken?" as I collected my change I added, "I have a pet chicken." To that I heard "ahhhh, ya, a chicken." :gig No time to explain.

When I got home, Clare hadn't moved, she was asleep I think. She seemed to really in joy the hair dryer. She talked to me is that small voice chicken do when they are happy. She loves attention. I told her not to get any idea's. I was not going to get her chicken diapers and make her a house chicken.

This is a link to an update on my Christmas chicks, in it Clare keeps trying to set on the camera, she likes looking at what I am filming.
I ave 2 EE's the first one you see is Voney The 2nd.

Hi from Houston, everyone!

I set my first hatch in the incubator about 2 hours ago and I have some BLRW bantam chicks coming in the mail next month. Wish me luck on my chicken adventure.

Anyone near me have marans or ameraucana bantams? I want to get some of those next and I'd rather find someone local than ship if possible.

Nice to meet y'all. :D

I pay over $3 a dozen for cage free eggs at the grocery store, and theyre not organic or anything!

$3 seems like a deal.
I know theres a place that sells them at the farmers market here, at least during the summer, butbi dont remember how much they charge.
Ms Jellybean, have you been to the farmers market in Chestnut Square?

You do know what "cage free" in the commercial industry means, don't you? Just as many chickens stuffed into a building as possible. Debeaked so they don't cannibalize themselves. I also learned that "access to pasture" might be one single little pop door opening up to a 10 x 10 foot yard (which might be concrete) off a huge overcrowded building housing tens of thousands of chickens.

The labeling on commercially-raised livestock may not mean what you think it means.

Hey Texas Chicken woman, I am in the big city of Coldspring, on Lake Livingston, and yep that deep east Texas.  60 miles north of the big city of Houston.  Just wanted to say Howdy and keep your chicken feed dry.

Hi, I am in East Texas as well, live on Lake Fork just outside a little town called Yantis. I just joined BYC as I have only recently (last few days) become a chicken owner. Got 38 baby chicks that are a "barnyard mix" of RIR and Ancona, from the coloring, think they are mostly Ancona. Also have 5 barred rocks about 1 yr old and 6 black copper Marans that are 10 months. Just became the "Crazy Chicken Lady" in one fell swoop!
