The eggs are decently dark - much darker than a typical "brown" egg, but not as dark as a marans - definitely a deep brown/ reddish "terra cotta" brown - really nice. Of course, one of mine is now laying lighter eggs, not sure why....maybe she needs more time after taking off some of the winter. I love Naked Necks - I wish my family did. They were not impressed with the photos I showed them. Your NN looks beautiful - the skin looks almost peach colored.
My husband is the one who really liked the NNs. A few of my pullets are red with pinkish necks, which looks really pretty. I wanted the Jerseys, and I love how huge they are! Not quite 5 months old and even the pullets are the same height as my Leghorn rooster. Cogburn is huge, much taller than Foghorn, and I have the feeling that once filled out he is going to be very heavy. I also adopted 4 EEs, a barred rock and a Buff Brahma from a family member. I am now planning on starting a flock of Brahmas and a flock of EEs. Here are the new girls.
Nice! & welcome back :hugs even though I see you on facebook

I got a bit overzealous last night when painting an egg. I was determined to make an elegant looking night sky and it kinda turned into something...not so elegant, haha! It's still pretty, though! ;)

They still need another coat of gloss to smooth them out, but once it is finished, I think it'll look very nice. I just need to figure out what to do with it, haha! :D

Looks pretty cool to me :)

I have it and can't get any just yet.  :/  Maybe after I get my tax refund I can start building my coop and run.

Very nice!  I tried to blow out an egg once and got a big headache from it. How do you blow out yours?  I can't imagine doing 13 like you did the other night without some kind of help.

I know what you mean! Money is tight right now, but I think I might just be able to get a steadier job soon. I have an interview today. A local business needs a website and I'm totally the go-to-gal for websites, hehe!

I blow out eggs without help. I just make two tiny holes in the egg with a knife and blow them out. Though, I think I have the air power because I sing a bit. Sometimes I do breathing exercises. I was definitely red-faced after that last egg, haha!

That's sooo pretty!!

Thank you! It took forever to shade it, haha!

Well, I apparently I have reinjured an arm/elbow tear from last August. Left arm is useless. All I got done today was installation of the top plates to tie all the walls together and I cut the rafters for the roof. I could not run the screw gun because of my arm so I gave up. Went into San Antonio and picked up a new helper... Not really a quality tool, but it should help me get the job done.
Implements of mass destruction, well almost!!

Those are lovely! I love the egg with the wintery landscape on the 2nd pic!
+1 on both parts. :)

I went to a local farm store today and looked at the coop in a box they have for sale. I did not buy it. Uh oh! This is not good. I did get my taxes done and filed today. I am getting a refund. Not as big as I hoped for though..... Still, there is a possibility that I can get a coop built. :)

This is such a nice painting.
