how cute are those baby chicks!! I am in Van Zandt Co north of Canton.
We have some of the same childhood memories! Lol and we had the meanest one legged rooster around! I am getting some RIR chicks from a lady I get my eggs from and I am also wanting barred rock and buff orps. Hens only, im going to pass on roosters for now

I'm passing on roos this time around too. I wanted some Orps, but will have to get them later.

I bought a 20 chick brooder from Brinsea. I LOVE it. You can get it on Amazon.

Don't you just love the brooders? I feel much safer using it than a heat lamp.

Pretty funny but this is what my daughter found in our coop today!! So now all hens are laying. When I went out to give treats for my hard working girls beauty, the last to lay, squatted rt next to me and let me pet her a long time!! This is literally the first time I've been allowed to touch her since she came to live here at thanksgiving. All is well in katy!!

Don't you just love the brooders? I feel much safer using it than a heat lamp.

I loath heat lamps, which was why I bought it. I had no idea the chicks would be so much happier under a brooder. They are in my office as I type this and not a peep. They are also starting to sleep outside of the brooder's warmth and they are only one week old. Those benefits were completely unexpected. I just love it, Henless. The chicks are just doing so well and are so happy. So different than with a heat lamp. Even my husband noticed how quiet they were.

That looks good! Your yard looks really good as well. I know it was a huge expense but I'm thankful you've got a new roof over your head.

Quick question, I just bought an incubator, has anyone bought hatching eggs off ebay? Is that a good thing or bad? It's crazy what you can find on that site, lol!
