It's foggy this morning!

My body is letting me know it is not happy with me for moving all that dirt. The joys of getting older.

Hope everyone has a great day before the front comes through tomorrow. Freezing rain in the forecast here.

Come on Spring!!!

These wing tags were on the pullet chicks I picked up at Atwoods. They were tagged to be able to tell them apart from the straight run chicks, in case any got put in the wrong bin. I understand why, it was just a pain to get them off. I think leg banding would have been easier, at least for the removal part anyway.

The chicks seemed fine this morning. They were running around and doing their thing.
They could mark the tops of their heads, that way you wouldn't have to fight with getting the clips off. We ordered Cinnamon Queens from Cackle and they marked the tops of their heads with a dye of some sort. Its probably how they marked them during sorting since we didn't request any markings. I think its an awesome idea to mark them, just not with something that might cause damage during removal.

Good Morning Ms. Jellybean!!!

DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT send me the freezing rain!!! At this rate, my garden will never get planted. If it isn't high winds, it is the cold. UGH!

Lisa :)

I agree! It really was tedious trying to unstick the chicks skin from the metal clips.
Thanks for the link. Interesting read. It seems counterproductive that we ship out so much soybeans and have to turn around and buy the more expensive soybeans. That's America I guess. A lot of things that she does makes no sense.

Just a quick note, before I get back to work in the yard. I went to Lowe's this morning and found hardware cloth is 75% off an already marked down price!!

I bought all they had left. 2'x10' rolls for $2.62 instead of $13-something. Score! My chicken coop has been started. Now to get that free wood from my neighbour.

Lisa, last year my heirloom tomatoes froze back three times. We had freaky late hard freezes even in April! The kicker was that the tomatoes did not perform at all. :( I think I ended up with about 10 or so decent sized tomatoes out of 25 plants.

This year I bought hybrid tomatoes and planted some Roma and Grape in seed planters. My hope is to can some tomatoes this year!!

Anyone can on a regular basis?? I have canned jam but this will be the first year with tomatoes.

On a chicken note, I have 9 chicks that are nearly a month old and 6 more due to hatch anytime! My big hens and pullets are pumping out about 2 dozen eggs a day so my fridge is FULL!!
