We now have 4 Cream Legbar pullets and a cockerel. I can't wait for our first blue egg! I tried to get a picture of each girl but one was a little camera shy and one loved it. Its a little picture heavy so I made them small but you can click on them to make them larger.

The Legbars are really pretty! I love all the different colors on them. Even the hens have several different colors on them. Very nice!!

I was surprised they were so colorful. I will admit I was a lot more focused on the color of their eggs but now that we have them here, I'm in love!

Hopefully you'll get all of your chicks soon!

Love the names. I started out with 4 BO. Hard to tell apart. Miss Priss, Blondie, and the twins (cause they looked exactly alike) Scrambled and Omellet.
Then I added two chicks that were suppose to be golden lace Wyandotte, but like a year later someone on BYC said "not".Lol they were brown leghorns. I just did not care about the fact they didn't look right. They are great egg layers The neighbor girls named them Brownie and Cupcake. Next came Princess a Rhode Island White and Whatknot a Barred Rock.
www..Brownie and Cupcake...maybe I'll name my next set after desserts! lol. You could have Truffle, Cupcake, Muffin, lol

It's not chick day today. They said they are too fragile to sell and I need to wait a few days.

Awwwww..I'm sorry. Don't worry, they will still be soooo tiny!

Just how worried do I need to be about day time predators for full size chickens? I have neighbours that let theirs out all day and they have similar fences (or shorter) to mine and the hens are all over their yards.

If I don't need to worry about making them a big run for the day time I can build my big coop only. It is the big run that was going to prevent me from getting chickens since I couldn't get all the wire. If I get the chickens as planned I can still get the big chicks and only need to buy a little more to build the coop.

Could I still use the plastic fencing to make a run for the big hens? The coop will be secured with hardware cloth.
I haven't (SO FAR

) had any problems...I've had a squirrel on the top and a dove inside this morning eating their feed. Lol.
Mine are in the run though. My yard isn't secure enough for them to free range unless I'm out there watching. I don't now HOW they get out, but that one time they found a way out of the grow out pen, they were all over: front yard, neighbor's yard, etc.

I'm still waiting to hear from the people........

I found this coop and thought it would be easy to make one like it. It looks like rain and snow would get into it pretty easily though. How big of a worry is that, not just for this coop, but any coop?

Lisa if I try to open a craigslist ad right from the email it won't open, I have to go to the BYC post & click on the ad then it opens right up
