It was 50* when I got up, now it is 47*. The wind is wicked cold. My windows (single pane) are all foggy from the humidity and cold. I can hardly see out any of them. The sun is shining though.

It could be worse though. It's snowing at my mom's house in MN.

I think I will ride my bike in the trainer today. Not a fan of cold north winds. Especially when they are over 10mph. They are 15mph gusting to 25mph. Nope, not gonna ride outside today.

Here is a new cookie recipe to try. Who is it that likes cardamom? Janet it that you? These cookies have cardamom in them. I'm going to skip the rolling out and make them into balls and flatten them with a glass. So much easier.

It is a good day to make bread. I need to run to the store to pick up more yeast. I think I will bake oatmeal bread. That makes the best toast.

I have been meaning to post how I created a temporary run for my young pullets that could be moved all over the yard. I recycled the welded wire after we moved and I no longer needed the run. Just strong grade 1x2 welded wire bent into the dimensions I wanted, zip tied together. At the bottom edge the welded wire was bent out about a foot to help keep out dogs. Only used it during the day.
This is how I attached it to my little chicken tractor.

We're good! Just a lot of rain and hail but no damage. Quite a scare though! My son did NOT like being woken up to sit in a dark closet..lol

I've got pictures of golf ball sized hail, too... Watched so much destroyed. 145 mph winds. Crazy!!! The tornados followed me!!

I saw a picture of a game in Frisco that looks JUST like that.... My husband works out there too so he took pics last night.

the best advice I have heard on this subject is "If they are going to end up in a pot, it is going to be mine". (jajean) You have no way of knowing especially when dealing with strangers! Cock Fighting? I'd rather enjoy a nice dinner with my roosters.
My sister had a friend who would get *free to good home* puppies and kittens to feed her snake!

Its true...not all strangers are kind, but not ALL are terrible either.
Not everyone is the processing type. I think I was told that it's really only Game roosters that have to worry about cock fighting..
I was really anxious when I had to give away my roo. But I got lucky in finding a decent person.

I think being able to process is a definite asset. But this is my first set of birds an I'm just not ready yet. Plus I would have felt awful, having to process my first bird just because he crowed, and he was only 9 weeks. What do you do with a bird at that stage? I know I'll do it eventually

Good morning everyone!

Glad everyone was spared. After being up all night making sure everyone I knew was safe, I totally slept in. Woke up a few minutes ago with all four dogs curled up tightly against me. Nice and cozy considering it's less than 50 in my room right now...

So far, so good. The babies and the teens survived two nights in a row in their new coop and new outside brooder. Last night the teens were wandering around my porch going *peep!* we're small enough to get out of the wire but not smart enough to get back in it! *peep!* So I made Df add a mod to the bottom of their run. It now has four inch tall tin on the bottom where it was just wire.

I proof read this and it makes no sense. I need to go wake up some more and maybe try again.... Haha

Good Morning everyone!!
Yes we did get rain last night but I believe the Lord spared us any of the really bad stuff. I have already been praying for those that were not as lucky.

@everyone.......I was going to quote everyone to reply but I am trying to save time and get this in before DH wakes up. LOL As far my bees I just prayed about it. LOL I know that may sound funny but I don't want to kill them and I am really not sure where their home is. I do need them around for my garden so I figure God made them and so I just turned it over to him to move them and keep me safe. I looked on line last night for the bee people in our area and I didn't find anyone and what I did find out side my area will charge. So I'll see how the days goes.
Thank all of y'all for your thoughts and opinions on the bee issue.

Well, I didn't get this out be fore DH got up..... so 2 peeled grapefruits later I am back to finish my thoughts. LOL Got to love the spoiled guy!

@henless I love your coop and I am glad I am not the only one doing chicken coop décor. If it is good enough for the fancy farm girl then it's good enough for me. I did order a special light yesterday and I have some metal signs I am going to put up so far. I am looking for old galvanized feed buckets and tubs to plant some things in for the out side of the pen. I wanted to go to Canton this weekend but I need to finish the coop first. So maybe next month I can make it to Canton. Maybe some of y'all can come to Canton to next month.

It doesn't at all sound funny that you prayed about your bees! That's the absolute BEST thing to do. HE created them! They have a purpose and a design just like we do! Praying for a hedge of protection around you and still praying for speedy recovery for your hubby. I love Canton! Haven't been in years though! Need to change that soon (before it gets too hot)

What exactly is a bike trainer?

There are many different kinds but they basically all do the same thing. They hold your bike so you can ride it indoors. I have a trainer wheel that I put on my bike and then hook it up in the trainer. The trainer holds the back wheel so it can spin. There is a roller that you can adjust the tension on so you can have the right amount of friction while riding. Mine is just a basic one.
