Texas

Welcome from Trinity!! You'll love guineas. Especially when they're mad at something.

Goodness where did these high wonds come from? Doesn't mother nature know we have trees to cut down still and not to send 40mph wind gusts through the fields?

I'm just sitting here watching tree parts.... take off.... and fly.... ( anyone catch the reference? ;) )

Here's to hoping no one gets crazy insane damage from these crazy insamqe winds...

Haha!!! I caught it because I live 5 miles from San Angelo Reagonal and I sit in my front yard and sing that song all the time ;-)

As far as Guineas go... I have two little yipper dogs who like to chace out barn cats for sport. I have been very leary of leaving them unattended at all with our foul. Will the adult Guinaes be able to handle themselves? I honestly think all it would take is a few pecks and a rattle or two from them to start walking a very wide birth. They are Chihuahuas. One I know won't mess with them at all. The other one will be curious. Will they put them in their place? Will I need to worry more about the dogs? Lol

Also I hear we have a cold front coming through which should account for the wind. But yes the one chick I lost I am pretty sure blew away :(

I wish I could find the video of my male guinea, Larry, chasing my 9lb Chihuahua. It led to Larry becoming a big bully. He now screams at and chases my sis, cats, dogs, small children.

AND yells at the horses. He's more or less a sweet guinea and likes to be coddled BUT he has no ladies so his testosterone is way high.

That is funny if you are not the one getting screamed at lol. Get that boy some ladies! I kind if figured they would handle themselves!

Morning all. Nasty weather here in Central Texas with scattered thunderstorms and high winds. I was out at 4am dragging my potted tomato plants inside. We're supposed to get temps in the 30s tomorrow and Wednesday. Almost Easter and winter decides to rear it's ugly head one last time. Reminds me of the horror movies when they think the killer is dead and he pops back up for one last scare! lol I was down all weekend, sick with a sinus/respiratory infection (dang you allergies)... so my grass is getting high (and will get higher with this rain) and I'm no closer to getting my chicken tractor built... uuuugh. Anyways, I hope you guys are having a better time than me lol
So sorry you aren't feeling well. Allergies are certainly hitting everybody this year. Have you tried taking local honey (about 1 T every day)? It has really helped my allergies these past two years. I haven't had sinus headaches, sneezies, etc. since I started taking it. Take care and rest!

Hi there fellow Texans. I am in San Angelo. I'm say that I am new to chickens but I have had them before. This time I am doing it differnt. Before I had few range chickens and had easter egg hunts daily. Got frustrated with that. This time I have enclosed my coop. Starting out with chicks so dont know what I have yet....but I bought 6 Producer red pulletts, 6 Producer Mixed pulletts and lost one, then I was given 10 barred Plymouth Rock hatchlings, 1 Rhode Island and 1 Amuricuna from an elementary class hatch project. I hope to get more Amuricanas & Rode Islands soon. I also have 6 ducklings. I would also like to get some Guineas to free range my Properity as we have been eaten up by ticks for the last several years. I am tired of putting so much money into pesticides that don't work long!

A word of Caution

When watching the Blood Moon tonight, beware that Uncle Sam is watching you. There is an old skinny man, wearing US hat, standing in front of IRS building, pointing finger and says "I want Yours".

Yeah, I do the local honey trick, plus Singulair, plus Zyrtec, plus Flonase.... and it's still been the worse it's ever been this year (I'm allergic to EVERYTHING lol). Guess I'll have to consider allergy shots

They had a tornado touch down about 25 miles from me in Lovelady yesterday afternoon. One woman had a deep cut to her leg when the tree fell on her mobile home.

Temp has dropped 30* since I got up this morning.

Y'all be careful today!!

What the heck who left the frezzer door open last night. I woke up and I darn near froze my but off. I had my bedroom windows open and didnt want to get out from under the warm covers to close them lol. Only in texas can it be 84 degrees one day and 30 something the next. But I love texas and would live no where else.
