Texas

I hope our "hen" ladies and MsJellybean are ok. There was some bad weather up north earlier today. Haven't seen them visit here today. It's suppose to be cold for a couple of nights Monday and Tuesday nights near freezing for me. Mom says we always get a cold snap before Easter but it sure is late to get that cold. Gonna be running the heat lamps for certain.
I'm still around. Just been super busy and haven't had much time to post. In fact, I still have 3 more pages to read but I need to leave to pick up granddaughter from pre-K, so gotta run!

Rained last night and this morning, turning cold now. We're supposed to be around 34 in the morning, so I guess I need to bring my plants back in. :(

Hi there fellow Texans. I am in San Angelo. I'm say that I am new to chickens but I have had them before. This time I am doing it differnt. Before I had few range chickens and had easter egg hunts daily. Got frustrated with that. This time I have enclosed my coop. Starting out with chicks so dont know what I have yet....but I bought 6 Producer red pulletts, 6 Producer Mixed pulletts and lost one, then I was given 10 barred Plymouth Rock hatchlings, 1 Rhode Island and 1 Amuricuna from an elementary class hatch project. I hope to get more Amuricanas & Rode Islands soon. I also have 6 ducklings. I would also like to get some Guineas to free range my Properity as we have been eaten up by ticks for the last several years. I am tired of putting so much money into pesticides that don't work long!

Welcome from gustine. My sister and her husband live in san angelo. He has a auto body shop there.

Well, our area is getting pea to pingpong sized hail with more to come later, on top of the high wind, rain, thunder and lightning... Seems very tornado-ey out there. Everyone be safe! It's ugly out there!

Yeah, I do the local honey trick, plus Singulair, plus Zyrtec, plus Flonase.... and it's still been the worse it's ever been this year (I'm allergic to EVERYTHING lol). Guess I'll have to consider allergy shots
WOW! That really does sound miserable. I wish you luck in finding something that works!

Lisa :)

Good day folks...

Wind is picking up. howling around the house, and temp dropping. Let the kids out this morning, they'll get some outside time. Just checked the weather map and it's on it's way here. Just to the west of me and moving fast, so only a matter of time til it gets ugly... so much for building my growout coop today. The little guys are getting crowded in their little coop, they'll have to tough it out a couple more days.

I was upset about not having my garden in...guess it's a good thing afterall. will just put my tray of little plants in the barn for a couple of days.

Think I will put on a pot of pinto beans for tonight. Love beans and cornbread with little onions from the garden. Good cold weather food and will help keep the house warm.

Gotta scratch up some wood to put on the porch before the rain comes.

Y'all stay safe, warm and dry till this passes. Hope we can still see the eclipse tonight but gonna be cold to stand out for long. Magpie

It is 42 here now and raining. Was going to finish the small coop for the EE today and move them out of the house. Looks like they will have to wait. Only bad part is one of the Roos is starting to crow. Not to fun to hear him at 2am in the living room. Wish they was a little more friendly but they will run every time we go near them.

Lisa...you're right about wierd weather. Was sitting out last evening, it was cloudy but then the sky got all golden and real calm. It was so pretty sort of surreal. All the birds and frogs went quiet. Only lasted a few minutes then it turned bluish...even the dirt had a silver grey color to it. Was very strange.

Morning all. Nasty weather here in Central Texas with scattered thunderstorms and high winds. I was out at 4am dragging my potted tomato plants inside. We're supposed to get temps in the 30s tomorrow and Wednesday. Almost Easter and winter decides to rear it's ugly head one last time. Reminds me of the horror movies when they think the killer is dead and he pops back up for one last scare! lol I was down all weekend, sick with a sinus/respiratory infection (dang you allergies)... so my grass is getting high (and will get higher with this rain) and I'm no closer to getting my chicken tractor built... uuuugh. Anyways, I hope you guys are having a better time than me lol
Sorry the allergies are getting to you so bad this year. My DH suffers from allergies, and they are really giving him a time this year too.

Welcome to BYC!

A word of Caution

When watching the Blood Moon tonight, beware that Uncle Sam is watching you. There is an old skinny man, wearing US hat, standing in front of IRS building, pointing finger and says "I want Yours".
Of course he wants what we have! We didn't build/make it by ourselves, someone else did it for us!!

I plan on watching the blood moon. Maybe.... :)

They had a tornado touch down about 25 miles from me in Lovelady yesterday afternoon. One woman had a deep cut to her leg when the tree fell on her mobile home.

Temp has dropped 30* since I got up this morning.

Y'all be careful today!!

David
I saw that on the news this morning David. So glad everything is fine at your place!

My EE's aren't the friendliest of the bunch. I can get my hands on all 3 of them, but the dove/blue colored one screams bloody blue blazes when I get her.
