Yes, I will take them later in the year. It will be good to have some mature roosters ready to go for next years pullets. I may even take 2. I live in New Braunfels, so I can pick them up from you if you are stil in SA.

Ok great!! When would you want them I could probably have them sexed by October. If you would drive here they will be free. Pm me for my email to contact me directly and for more info!!!

David, Harley.... Who ever else was telling me about bees back when u had the bed problem. I found them!!

What kind of bee digs holes in wood like this. They are all over the barn and you can just hear them digging away in them and what ever else they are doing in there!!!
Those are wood cutter bees. They are big like bumble bees and I don't think they sting unless you mess with them. they are very beneficial to the garden. They bore the holes in wood to lay an egg and the larve will hatch late on. They are cool to watch as they boe out the hole and then seal in the egg. I have some of them on my deck and front porch. You can even make homes for them by boring holes in a chunk of 4 x 4 and hang it.

If they look like bumble bees, then they are Carpenter Bees like David and Magpie said. The males don't sting, and the females usually don't unless harassed

Sounds like they will be good for your garden! :)

If they are actually making the holes then they are Carpenter Bees!!! If the holes were existing before then they could be Mason Bees!! Mason bees will use holes to lay their eggs in and are beneficial. They also do not sting unless you really, really agitate them.

Carpenter bees damage is strictly cosmetic and the book I have on them says they are beneficial also. The hole the Carpenter bee makes is generally only about an inch deep and up to 1/2 inch wide.

Hope that helps

Also too the carpenter bee resembles a bumblebee.

David

Carpenter bee=wood cutter bee...just always called them that, but David has the proper name.
I first learned about them a few years ago when I kept finding little piles of sawdust on my deck.
I welcome them as honey bees are in decline lately.

Yes!!! That has to be it. The only wY I noticed was because I saw the saw dust on a sheet of cardboard I had just put in there the day before needing yo take it yo the burn pile. I looked up and saw the dust falling from the hole and them saw the bee. Yes they are big and do look like a bumble bed!! You can hear those little guys boring away in my rafters!! Nice to know they don't do a lot of damage but there are A LOT of them in the barn.

Nice to know what they are now.
@henless they will be good for the garden and they are just right there by it! Lol

Bad phone call from the doctor just now.

My blood work that was pulled yesterday morning came back with no signs of the hCG hormone having changed. Going in for an ultrasound, they think I lost the baby. Wish I'd have said yes, sure, go ahead yesterday when he asked if I wanted an ultrasound. I was in a hurry to get DF to work and it's early yet.

This is a link to what he thinks was happening, and tomorrow it will be confirmed on way or another.

I swear. Just when things start going right it all comes toppling out of control again... On a good note the electrician fixed my ground wires and I can run my A/C again. AND wash clothes. Now to obsessively wash clothes while trying to pass time and not think about the news from the doc...
I am so sorry you have to go through this waiting for confirmation one way or another. Praying for you and your DF

Hoping someone can help with a couple of questions. My 7 week old gals love going outside in the pen; however, they don't stay there long. When I go back inside, they go back in the coop. then if I come back outside, they run outside like they've been waiting. Is this just because they are young that they aren't just so excited about digging outside? I didn't imagine that they would spend most of their time indoors.
Also, my 3 week old silkies - I moved them to a pen that is inside the coop - so that they could see and be seen by the 7 week olds for smooth assimilation at a future point. the older girls hang out on top of the pen, so I covered most of it with plywood so they don't poop on the littles. However they do make the littles a bit nervous hanging out over head. Do you think I should block off the overhead to keep the bigs from terrorizing the littles
