i hate to admit it.. but I would rather have the heat then the ice and snow... and I don't have AC

the cold wet weather kills my back.. constant severe pain.. so yeah... y'all can keep that really cold stuff.. though I wouldn't mind a nice cool breeze and some rain on occasion....

Ya know, I'm in the same boat. I don't think I'd survive living where it gets really cold, I'd be in pain all the time. But oh, I'd like to see temps below 90 for a change. Heck, I'd probably need a sweater!

Do you mean Black Split Lavender? There is no such thing as a Lavender Split Black. Black Split Lavender just means the bird is Black but carries a Lavender gene. One of the parents was probably a Lavender. It will still look like a regular Black chicken, but if you breed two of them together you have a chance of getting 25% Lavender chicks, %50 Black Split Lavender, and 25% Black with no Lavender gene.

Wow thanks for the help. I had no idea what I got LOL. Lavender Split Black is what the breeder called it, but it is Black Split Lavender. Thanks for the correction. I don't want to walk around saying Lavender Split Black and peeps thinking, what the heck is that girl talking about?? lol

And I thought I wouldn't have to water the plants due to that stupid, teasing sprinkle. I felt like an idiot watering plants when it was "raining" out lol.

(1) I have SEVERAL chicks I'll be selling shortly. I bought a "special" from Ideal poultry awhile back and everyone is 9 weeks old. I'll take pictures this weekend. I have NO idea what some of these guys and gals (mostly gals) are, but would welcome anyone's feedback. My question - they haven't been NPIP tested yet (according to my state guy they have to be 16 weeks old). Is there a market for me to sell these birds (preferably local/pick up) without them being NPIP first? I have approximately 100 birds and will go thru and pick out what I want and would like to sell the rest. If they don't sell, they'll go to freezer camp; however, should I wait another 2 months before posting them for sell?

(2) I will begin my breeding program this coming spring with Marans and EEs. I'm very interested in showing Marans; however, I'd like to try for a darker green egg (olive) and eventually try spotted

(3) I'd like to begin a fall garden this year. Will ya'll tell me when and what ya'll are planting? I'm about 9 miles north of Livingston so it's still pretty hot (of course, where isn't) and i have 3 acres so I have plenty of room.

(4) Once a Texas, always a Texan in my book.

Thanks ya'll.
