The chickens aren't going to notice if you take a day or two off!
I've found it helps when I have days like that to 'weed out the herd' a little. Even if it goes no further than making a list, I pick out the ones I'm not extremely attached to, any that aren't looking the way I was hoping, a few that I remind myself we are holding onto until they are big enough to go to freezer camp. We've decided we aren't keeping any of our ducks. I'm a little disappointed but they are a lot of work to keep their area clean and I've decided I want to concentrate on chickens. I have one girl who has horrible manners and jumps on us when we go into the coop with food, she's on 'the list'. I'm not a huge fan of black bibbed turken, but she's a really good layer, so I've added her to 'the list' too. We have a bantam red frazzled cochin that is so ugly she's just ugly,
she's not even so ugly she's cute, she's on some sort of list but its more of a 'What in the world are we going to do with her, who would buy her' list.
