We have a golf ball in the coop, but no nesting boxes (yet). I underestimated the ladies age & didn't expect them to be laying already. Our newest layer insists on laying her lovely olive-green egg on the floor of their run. Good thing I pick 'em up right away. :)

I hope mine don't do that! My run is actually a covered moat that goes around our garden. Would be kind of hard to get to them. They can also get under the coop so if they decide to lay there I will really be in trouble! Lol

So far, that is the strangest place they've laid. My first layer did that once or twice, before laying in the coop. We gotta get crackin' on making/getting nesting boxes, though. :p

As of yesterday, we've got FOUR egg-laying ladies! :)

Congrats! Looks like you have a wonderful color assortment in your basket. A blue, olive, brown and white, makes me wonder what color egg your 5th lady will lay.

IBS is un-curable, but can be managed. I have it, and I am lactose intolerant on top of that. But I manage mine through diet, and some meds. My IBS is not as severe as others, but for me, I have found that a meat heavy diet makes it worse, so I eat small portions of meat (chicken and beef, no pork) and lots of fruits and veggies. I still have random bouts with IBS, but when I eat a lot of meat or dairy I know I will have trouble later.
Maybe you can try diet changes and see if anything makes yours better or worse.
Me too, since I was 18. I too have problems with dairy, meat, soy as well as gluten. If I stay completely away from them, I have 0 symptoms and no meds. I was also diagnosed with pernicious anemia 8 years ago, the leaky gut 2 yrs ago as well... so my gut was a complete mess. I would highly suggest you get on a good daily probiotic to help with your gut flora! Keep a food diary and see what bothers you. Then take it out for a month. Add it back in once and see if that is what it truly is. Good luck!

I have been lactose intolerant and had IBS since I was a teenager. My triggers are dairy such as milk, yogurt, and icecream, I can eat cheese and eggs just fine. Meat is also a trigger for me, and the greasier the meat the worse I am affected. I have completely cut pork from my diet, but I eat grilled, rotisserie, baked on a elevated rack chicken, and grilled steaks or beef that is de-greased as much as possible. It has made a difference for me. I eat smaller portions of beef, because it is never fully grease free, and eat a ton of fresh fruits, veggies, and high fiber foods. Beans have become a staple in my diet, supplying protein when my kids and hubby have to have their pork or other greasy foods. Fish is another meat I have added into my diet at a higher rate with no effects. I may soon cut beef completely from my diet, no matter how careful I am, I always have a bout with IBS after beef, even steaks which I love so much.

Most probiotics seem to be yogurt, or milk shake based, which I can't eat. Do you know of any probiotics that are not dairy based?

About a week ago I asked for advice on getting my girls to roost on their roosts instead of the floor. After a week of physically putting them on the roost, last night I went to "put them to bed" and all 4 were already in the roost! Yay! Was easier than potty training my kids! Lol

yay I'm glad your birds got it so fast i tried for 3 solid months and they still wouldn't do it.
