Is anyone else having a problem with ants?

It rained here yesterday and this afternoon, I found one of my rabbits and two of my ducklings dead, covered in ants. The two ducklings were very heavy and healthy, plenty of weight on them. The rabbit was significantly bigger and he was also very healthy. I looked all over for potential causes of death but I can't think of anything else that could of killed them. They were fine this morning but this afternoon I found the rabbit dead. When I went to burn him, I was gone an hour. Came back to the grow out coop and found the two ducklings.

I just about cried. I hurried up and grabbed all the animals that were in there (another rabbit, a nearly full-grown mallard hen and the remaining muscovy duckling, two chicks, three quail, and a broody hen with her gosling) and put them in the larger pen.

I'm not entirely sure how to take care of this issue. I was thinking of just getting boiling water and scalding the ground of the coop. Then maybe laying out some poison for the ants, but in a manner that won't allow the chickens to get to it. I hadn't planned for this, but I guess that's how all of these problems arise.

yeah ants are killers with only a few dozen the animals can deal with that, but more that they can die from getting stung to much and if ants can kill people they can kill small animals

I was joking at first and just wanted to see pictures. I also tease my husband about getting more animal and usually he's like "no...nope....no" . This time he threw me for a loop and said "Okay lets do it"..so I had to actually think about it.
He has a soft spot for pits, and runts, so we got a 2-in-1 deal ;)
I got him this morning before work. He's so sweet.

I'm sorry I've been dragging my feet on this one! I'll let you know if turkeys are a go or not tonight for sure!

the sooner the better i need to know if i need to order more turkey eggs ASAP

Back from our first private conformation lesson and I am exhausted. I have to run to make my 6 month old puppy hit the proper gait, its only going to get worse when he is full grown! Why did I choose such a big breed of dog to show and breed? I should have picked pugs, then I could just walk around the ring, lol. Now I am measuring my boy for his first show lead, I need it here ASAP. We have another lesson next week and our trainer would like for us to get a show lead to train with. I am definately going to lose weight and get in shape doing this. And stupid me, I thought it would be fun, but it's actually work! Lol.
Hopefully I can get Phantom into a show in the next 2-6 months.

one of the reasons i never show any of my animals it is quite a bit of work and most of the time finding a good breeder that doesn't practice puppy-mill crap is hard to find so we just don't mess with it. Good luck

Phantom is from champion show lines, and the breeder nearly kept him herself. She is mentoring me in all this, but since she lives 4 hours away I had to enroll in classes and lessons. Phantom has a lot of potential, and so we are going to give him his shot in the ring, and any of his pups that have good conformation as well.
