Is play sand ok for chickens? I was thinking of putting a section of just play sand in their coop

PLaysand is ok, but the sand that you can get from a concrete company is better. It is a little bit coarser, which is good for your birds. But be careful, you don't want to get anything too coarse.

One (possibly two) of The Ladies laid "rubber eggs" this morning.

I've read this can occur around the time they start laying, and since they have only been laying a week or two (depending on the bird), I believe that's what happened. They have free access to oyster shells, their own (crushed) eggshells, etc. I plan on getting them some plain yogurt tomorrow to see if they like it. No one is acting funny, no one appears sick. I'm just going to keep an eye on 'em and see what happens.

This is pretty normal with hens just starting to lay. I also read that the stress from weather changes can also cause this. I have 8 "veteran" layers, and every once in a while, I find a "rubber egg". All my birds are healthy and happy, but the weather changes an awful lot around here.

Phantom is from champion show lines, and the breeder nearly kept him herself. She is mentoring me in all this, but since she lives 4 hours away I had to enroll in classes and lessons. Phantom has a lot of potential, and so we are going to give him his shot in the ring, and any of his pups that have good conformation as well.

On a sadder note none of the turkey eggs hatched one did pip and start a zip but died in the shell their was no movement from the other two eggs so i opened them one was rotten and the other was mostly feathered so i think it died closer to lock down.

Wont let me place an order from home either. Ill try and call it in tomo on my lunch.
If that doesn't work, you may want to order the eggs. I dont want to hold you up

OK ill be looking for your pm tomorrow but if nothing still I'm going to go ahead and order. I'm going to be cutting it really close as it is.

i think I may have misspoke when I said ideal had a 10 minimum on bbw turkeys you may be able to get the 5 you want. It the other turkeys they have the minimum. I think you just have to spend $25 on birds!! I have 2 that I am planing on processing in 2 or 3 weeks I got them in April. Thought it would take longer for them to get ready but they are about 25lbs now. So they will be going to freezer camp soon.

ok thats what i thought. Lols yeah we want the turkeys at least 30-35lbs we have a big family and the small store turkeys just aren't cutting it
