Officially crazy chicken lady.
Saw an add on craigslist advertising "HEN chicks" with pictures taken off My Pet Chicken of "what they will look like as HENS"..but the pictures were of roosters...I wanted to message them and let them know....

My husband and I are still on the lookout for some new birds. We want to expand our flock with about 3-to-5 new pullets (ideally, around 2-to-4 months old). I've been keeping an eye on Craigslist, but ever since we seriously decided to add to our flock, I haven't found a listing I trust. Oh well...I guess when it's right, it'll fall into place.

Unless..........anyone in the Austin area have some pullets for sale that fit the above description.

I have quite a few mixed pullets and cockerels about 2 months old. They are all blue andalusian mixed. We have too many of them now.

Craigslist posters can be the worst! We have a local one here - runs an ad every single day. My favorite is they are taking deposits for chicks yet to be hatched - "all GARANTEED [sic] to be hens." Sent an email asking how they have accomplished this biological workaround and obtained a one-sex hatch? No response. I continue to be entertained by the postings.
What does irritate me is how many people that may find chickens an enjoyable hobby are getting completely turned off by 1) their inevitable roosters, and 2) the shady people they deal with in "the chicken world."

Call me crazy but I just went out to discover that my favorite silkie/winner of the most devoted broody award, was broody so I took one of my serama eggs from my incubator and stuck it under her! Is there anything I should know about using broody hens?
