I'm north Austin! Just got my coop. Now I've got to figure out the chickens! I'm thinking I want to start with pullets because it seems like it would be one more thing to ask my husband to support--oh, hey, now we need a brooder first. Pretty sure I want Americaunas... My 4yo just wants pretty eggs, really.

Doing great!! Real busy. How is Henry doing?? How are y'all doing?? Tried to do some catching up, but way too overwhelming!!

My five hens are only giving us two eggs a day right now. I thought it was the heat here in Central Texas but now I suspect a snake. My wife thought some might be laying out in the brush around the place so I put an old golf ball in two nests to encourage the hens to lay in the nests. The golf balls were gone this morning.

If the snake got the golfballs, you will find a dead snake in the am!! Try not to jump too high!!!

Henry is great, has a new trailer and fence.

Got my first chicken egg yesterday. But tonight 1 of my RIRs was missing. No sign of predation, just a missing chicken when I locked them up. I am hoping that maybe it just got over the fence and joined the neighbors chickens.

That is great!! Soryy to hear about the RIR, but maybe you are right, just jumped the fence. A lot going on around here. No time to enjoy life. Maybe can dance tomorrow night. Need it!! Need to get away from the normalcy!! Need a break!! Too much work, not enough play!!
