). We both grew up in Livingston but still call Cedar Park/Austin home.

I found BYC when searching for info on how to care for my little duckling and amazed at the amount of info here. One of the biggies I've learned is he needs a duck-mate to pal around with. I am having a heck of a time finding 2 wk old ducklings here in the DFW area.

I'm slowly but surely working on my duck house. Man this is a lot of work and each tool I put down the kids run off with. Today was finally cool enough to step outside for a while. Tomorrow I should be able to work on it too. I hate how hard I is to make straight cuts with a circular saw! I want a table saw soooo bad but the hubby isn't on board with it.

Nice!

I'm making plans to pick up our last two Girls from H & H Poultry in Burnet, TX tomorrow. We got 3 Blue Splash Maran/Americauna mix pullets over a week ago (from a private farm), and they are doing fantastically...now to complete our shopping list of chickens with 2 Black Copper Maran pullets from H & H Poultry. Not only will we have a rainbow of feather colors, but once everyone starts laying we'll have a rainbow of egg colors as well. WooHoo!

Excited for you!....Although we love our wyndotts and the other ones we bought from TSC this spring, I kinda wish we had been more choosy. I was taken in by all the cute pics and just had to get chicks. I did get the Aussies I wanted, though they were pullets. We learned alot about raising chicks and have had some hatches of our own but they are production birds. Next spring we are going to go breed specific. Hubby loves the Black copper Marans. I would like a couple of Cream legbars and Easter eggers or Americaunas. The idea of all those beautiful feathers and colored eggs is so inticing!! Good luck with your new babies!!

Yeah, the work is hard but rewarding when it's done. They should be some very happy duckies!!

Well, we inherited our original 5. 1 White Leghorn, 3 Easter Eggers & 1 Red Sex-Link. They give us white, blue/green & tan eggs...with the 3 Maran/Americauna "Olive Egger" mixes (olive colored eggs), and the 2 Black Copper Marans (dark brown eggs), we will have pretty birds & pretty eggs.

This is as far as I made it today. Not too bad and then I just remembered that I need to make some part hinged so I can clean it out and collect eggs. Of course I forgot about that important part! So I have to figure that out tomorrow on my way to lowes to get roofing materials and more 2x4's. This is hard work but I love it'

Hi from Deep East Texas! We are over by Toledo Bend Reservoir. Really enjoy reading all the posts on BYC. A world of info here on a great venue. We are still working on our new coop and run. A bit of trim on the run and add the doors and all the outside will be close. Still need to finish the roost and stuff inside but the chicks are enjoying just having the run and being able to be under the coop. They have grown so fast, just amazing! We have 50 chicks of various breeds that include RIR hens, Black Star hens, Red Star hens and 25 Rare of Rare from Murray McMurray hatcheries. Some fun stuff in that bunch for sure. We also raise Llamas and Alpacas and also have a bunch of dogs and 2 cats. My wife and I are Grandparents raising a Granddaughter...that will keep you busy!

Please allow me to introduce ya'll to our 5month-old(ish) Black Maran pullets, Bootsy & Barbarella. My daughter & I got to name our first 8 chickens, so we let my husband name the last two.

They have lovely feathery legs and feet...and we can't wait for their chocolate-brown eggs.
