Showing can be fun and all, but it can also be very stressful depending on what you're showing. When I was showing Aussies it was soooo much easier to keep those bug ole hens clean and pretty than it was to do the Hamburgs.

I figure fancy breeds like Polish and silkies and such are even harder.

It's definitely worth getting into with the kids.

Ugh, I can't imagine trying to keep chickens with fancy hairdos looking nice.

I need to google the 'standard' on Guineas. I know they can be shown... I'd like to see if my main male is as good looking as I think he is. To me, Larry is one good looking Guinea. LOL!

Especially for an older male. He's going on three, his best friend is my Barred Plymouth Rock rooster... and sometimes I wonder if Larry knows he's a Guinea. He was a rescue who had never seen other guineas until he got here, and he has nothing to do with the flock of ladies that obsessively call to him. So, they got a lavender male for Christmas. He is much happier to see a flock of ladies than Larry ever was.

No guarantee that you will be able find an online copy of the current Standard since it is copyrighted but perhaps a guinea club has gotten permission from the APA to post it.

So a guinea and a rooster gets along...interesting. Poor guy. Oh well, if he is happy, guess that is all that matters.

I'm getting nervous. I have chicks coming in and she always shipped them yesterday morning. Normally they're here within 24 hours and the holidays are a terrible time to lose chicks in the mail...

Ugh, I have a white Silkie and I can not imagine trying to keep her clean long enough to show...
I'd lose my mind.
This morning I woke up to a pretty loud thunderstorm. Went out to the laundry room, where I've been letting her sleep with her chicks: Nope! She decided to take them all outside! Chicks were dry but I think she LIKES looking like a hot mess
