And just wondering... Does anyone have any roosters they don't want?? I am looking for a rooster, but I am wondering what are my options from people within the same state... I am near houston..

A friend of mine in katy has some roosters hes selling for $5 each. He has an add on craigslist Ill give you the link. He and his wife are very nice and so are there chickens, I have a few from him myself. http://houston.craigslist.org/grd/2712025048.html

How about a giant splash orpington? He's 5 months old and the same size as my 10 month old fella. I'm thinking I need to keep the black one but Charlie is awesome. He doesn't know much about being a guy yet but soon I'm sure it'll dawn on him. He does tend to pick on one of the pullets his age though.

Here is my new coop. It is pretty cool. Not too big. Me and hubby can pick it up and move it when needed. It took about 30 mins to put together. It does need some mods, but nothing we cannot handle. It does not have a floor, which is fine, but I was worried about raccoons and other prowlers so we tacked chicken wire to the underside and I dumped a bunch of pine shavings inside. Next we are going to get the run and install the nest boxes that go with this coop. I wanted something that looked nice since we live in a neighborhood and I was kind of worried about what the code enforcers might say. I don't think they or my neighbors will have an issue with this. I think the girls are liking their new home. They were going a little nutty about it. It is so cold and windy out I was a little worried, but they seem fine.
