So we found out the hard way that raccoons like chicken.

5 of 6 of my 8 week old girls are gone/dead. One production red survived by hiding behind some boxes on the porch. We found the parts of two, but of three there is no sign. The coop came with some detachable panels where you can attach nesting boxes and one of them had the clips that held it in place completely ripped off. The hubby is now going to trap the coon and he has secured the coop. I think it will take some real strength to get in it now. I think I need a baby monitor out there so I can tell if it comes back.

Poor production red is all alone out there now.

Anyway; I went to Russell feed in Samson Park earlier and picked up 5 three week old buff orpingtons and 1 americauna. They did not charge me for one of the buffs since it is very small. Not sure it will live. I am just so mad though! If I catch that coon, I will take an axe to it if I have to.

Any chance someone in Central Texas has a male Spotted Australian Duck that I can either borrow or buy? I'm trying to figure out if the presence of a male will make my females quiet the heck up. My poor neighbors are suffering and I need to find a solution FAST!!

I lost a Black Swedish Duck last night..... I had 9 of them in a penned lot...... I am thinking it was a coon too.

Whatever it was ate the head and neck........left the body lying right in the hay where it had been bedded down sleeping!

One of mine had the head and feet missing. The other was just mauled looking.​

Wow! I can't believe the feed store still has chicks. Did they have a bunch left? I may need to avoid Jacksboro Hwy at all costs!!

Sorry about your birds, but glad your were able to replace them.
