Texas

Hi, I'm in Cleburne, Tx. Thats about 30 min south of Ft Worth. Loving me some country life lol. I only have 3 game chickens right now, (not the kind I wanted) so it's temp. but I do have an incubator with 42 eggs in it (not the kind I wanted either) haha but it's only for practice since reading BYC forums made me want to try.  Hoping to learn a lot here!

I know where Cleburne is! My sister and several friends have gone to that Southwestern ADV University in Keene.

I just started a "test" hatch today too. Wanted to be sure the bater is in good working order before ordering the breeds I Really want!

That's where I went to college - hardly anybody outside of the church denomination has ever heard of it or of Keene. Odd to find somebody here that knows it.

For those of you living in Cleburn... I feel bad for you if you're an attractive female and shop at the local TSC. The manager there is, uhm, different.
Sounds like somebody accustomed to handling obnoxious cowboys needs to put him in his place. That used to be a skill passed on to girls but I think it has probably become lost in the modern world.

Wish I was closer to San Antonio so I could get the silkie roo.
I've used dirt in the brooder with no problem.
Whenever one of my hens go broody I place a shallow container of food and one of water close to her so she can eat without having to get up. Once the chicks start hatching I fill the food one with chick starter and place medium size stones in the water so the chicks don't drown.

Hi guys...i was wondering if any of yall have a rooster that you would want to trade with mine? Or you just want to get rid of a rooster? I have 3 and our hens kept on getting broody generation after chicken generation and the gene pool is all messed up. I live in Bandera about 45 minutes north west of San Antonio. We are planning on culling 2. Any suggestions?
