Hello fellow Texans!
I'm a new chicken owner in Austin. I have a five-chick mixed flock. They're about 2-3 weeks old now. Having chickens has been even more fun than I thought. And man, do they grow fast!![]()

Oh cool! Yeah, she's been great. I was just checking in on them before turning the over head light out, and (she?) jumped on me! I think she's was hoping to roost there for the night. LOL (They just now really started using the little bars we made for their box.) She's super sweet. Her name is Asha. The other four are Deborah, Joan, Athena, and Eowyn.I'm in Georgetown, and my mixed flock of four is about a week and a half behind you. Your olive egger in the first picture looks exactly like mine does. It's neat to see what she will look like next week! What are their names?
Hello! Oh man, that will be a super exciting day! Fun little milestones along the way though -- like they just started using these little bars we made for their box. Sometimes they fall off. Good thing they're super close to the groundHello from Liberty Hill.Oh it just gets better. That first egg is top on my list, but daily chicken antics will bring joy to your life.
There are! There are a couple roosters on my street. When my neighbors saw us building the coop, they all kinda trickled by. I think some eggs will keep them happy too.... hopefully.IMy ducks but I just got some chicks for Mother's Day so now I can compare. I would totally encourage ducks because they are just adorable and how lots of personality. However my girls are quite talkative and I'm trying to keep the neighbors happy by sharing the eggs. I figure since no one has called about the rooster a few houses up my ducks shouldn't be a problem. There are a few of us on here that are in the Austin area![]()

looks nice.! Colors are perfect especially for summer. I'm sure that was an expensive project .Here is a picture of my coop! I went from being close to tears because I couldn't use a circular saw to building a coop! I am quite a bit over budget, and I am planning on painting it dark gray, because I'm not too crazy about the current color.![]()
And here are the inhabitants. They are staying in the coop in a Rubbermaid, and enjoyed they warm weekend playing in the run with my 5 year old.
