Dammit Dammit Dammit.
Sun is setting later these days. I messed up and hadn't reset automatic coop door. Princess did not get in and I did not check. Heard her scream at 10:15. Nothing I could do at that point but pray and feel guilty

. It was fast. Well I'm praying it was.
RIP my sweet hen you will be missed.
Oh no! So sorry.

Thanks for the well wishes.
The troubling thing to me was when DH was doing research on the laws about dogs attacking chickens it turns out there is a movement to remove chickens from the list of live stock so you can have the police come out and remove the dog for the death penalty for killing you live stock. Seems dog people are out ragged, that someone had this done when the neighbors dog wiped out their pet chickens. Started a petition because dogs are better companions and pets than chickens.

Keep your pets no matter what they are in your yard or be prepared for them to be terminated. My Chickens NEVER left my yard and poor Moe was dragged out of it.

Baldie and Birda were smaller so we have not seen any sign of them to bury. Moe was too big for that crappy puppy to drag home so it just left her mauled in my next door neighbors yard. ( puppy is 2 houses down from me). We found her just as she was closing her eyes for the last time.

My feeling is Kill AND be Killed. If my dog did that I would put her down.

One of my Muscovy hens hatched six ducklings today. She has five more eggs that I will give a couple of days just to make sure. I have two other Muscovy hens sitting on nests at this time. My new incuview incubator has held a stable temperature between 99.2 and 99.7 degrees since Sunday morning. I have 30 jumbo French guinea eggs in it and will candle them Saturday to get rid of any infertile ones as the Jumbo French Guineas have a hard time breeding, so I expect some of the eggs to be clear. So far I am impressed with the little incubator. No rain here in the last three days. We shall see how it goes.

That is terrible! My dad has had problems with roaming dogs before. The most recent time he ended up putting buck shot in someone's pet that was attacking his alpacas. That dog did some major damage and my dad called the sheriff out. They told him that he really needs to get a better fence that will keep dogs out not just keep his animals in. Say what??? He about lost his mind after hearing that. He sheriff told him he can't really be shooting dogs and the dogs owners wanted my dad to pay the vet bill! It was their dog that came onto his property and my dads vet bill to put poor Barney back together was pretty high up there. No one wants to shoot another persons per but keep them in your yard!

I can no longer even ride our horses down my driveway without my horse getting chased and bitten by dog packs... So aggravating. It's ok if you are an experienced rider and unafraid...but when you ride with a more novice rider...like my kids...it scares the mess out of you. Police do NOT care about dog complaints and SPCA or dog catchers do not come this far into the country. And vets do NOT see chickens here. Period.vet them yourself or dispatch them when dogs attack them. I had a mottled am roo slaughtered right in my front yard. AND I have a herd of dog hating, dog stomping donkeys! Which I'm scared the dog pack will kill so I put them up at night :/ The dog came in the morning for the roo before the donkeys were let out...:hit

Yup but out my driveway...there is neighbor across street...his dog lies in wait at the top of his driveway....across from mine.IF I take my ( shooter) first I'm in the drink, even I don't ride well enough to stay on, if I shoot that thing off my rocket ahem...Arabian.lol AND neighbor would see me do it....and I'm not wasting my energy on shoveling that aggravating mongrel. We use SSS on hawks! :duc
