Hello All!! Ready to Dance????

I am OK, just have been busy.Thank y'all for caring!! Got 3 jobs now, and am trying to find time to sleep!! Get about 4 hours a night, starting to get used to it, but am still whooped!! I probably have enough energy for a 1.5 minute dance. Anyone game?!?!?!?
3 jobs?! Jeez! Glad to hear you're doing okay, buddy. Get some rest, even if you have to break it up into power naps! Take care!

I wonder how long a memory a chicken has? My son and I have been home because we just came back from Minnesota recently and couldn't all afford to go back. My wife and daughter are up there because my Mother-In-Law passed away last week. Long story short, I had some chickens decide their eggs were better eating for them, than for us in our Easter Egger coop. I have spent two days after that, because I am at the house watching my son, nabbing every egg as they are produced. Also, I have added protein to their diet, meal worms, corn, bread, and even cleaned out their coop, nesting boxes. I am wondering how long it will be until I am sure I have broken the cycle? Chickens minds aren't all that complicated.

Not sure about the length of a chicken's memory. I am just thankful mine have never eaten their eggs.
I could never break my barred rock from roosting in the trees. I would get her out of the tree and into the coop night after night. She finally would roost in the coop. But she went to roost in a tree again and it happened to be a night I did not make it out to check on her. Coon got her. I think some of it is just part of their make up. She just really wanted to roost in the trees.

I think I know who the culprits are. So, if it keeps happening, there will be a couple of hens for dinner. In the mean time, I have been trying to break the cycle.

When I have a bird that wants to roost outside the coop in the trees, I just clip the flight feathers on one wing. Problem solved.

Yes, I spread out the wing and where the light comes through, I cut with scissors. It gets the rooster wound up when the hens squawk about it though.
