Texas

You just buy the root for eating/grinding and stick it in the ground. In fact, it sprouts on its own on the counter whether you intend to grow it or not. I got some at Whole Foods that was organic (so I figured it wasn't treated with any sprouting blockers), and that worked well. I also ordered some of the roots/tubers off of Amazon, and they all tried to grow right out of their ziplock on the counter when I didn't plant them fast enough! Gave a few to a friend, they came up for her in pots super super fast. Like falling off a log....

And a VERY attractive plant - even if you didn't care about harvesting the root.

Turmeric in front (broad lovely leaf), ginger behind that (spindly one), small curry leaf baby tree far back left (baby from my mother tree):

We've got an indoor garden because my husband couldn't bear to see his plants he worked all summer on, die. That is a tobasco pepper bush and it's actually bigger now. For reference that is a five foot freezer next to it. And then he got had by the .50 to 1.00 plants at either lowes or homedepot right after the freeze and has turned our bathroom into a green house. I've still got greenery everywhere!

My incubator is doing great! One egg is out due to red ring of doom and three are iffy's but only two more weeks to go! 20 eggs that are looking good still.
