Whaaaaa? Is everything on their site available to just go in and pick up? Cameron isn't that far from College Station.
You have to order them at least a month ahead of time (at least with ducklings). They say they are hatched the day you pick them up...wonder how they do that!??? I ordered 5 ducklings (different breeds) the first of February and I pick them up on March 9th.

I have 21 chicks from Ideal, 15 were shipped directly to me and 6 purchased Saturday at Callahan's off Buda Hwy. The 15 shipped are doing much better than the 6 from Callahan's. I have had to give all 6 electrolytes from a medicine dropper and mashed up food. And, I thought for certain I was going to lose a chick tonight but, after many hand feedings and droppers of electrolytes she has rallied and is eating and drinking on her own now. Only time can tell what I wake up to tomorrow. I have tried everything I know to give my chicks a fighting chance: electrolytes, probiotics, mashed food, and as a last resort I gave 2 ladies egg yoke (which neither wanted).
I only live 2.5 hours from Ideal, maybe next time I will pick them up. But, if your only option is shipping, they seem to be vibrant, active and thriving. They were in a box for less than 24 hours too though (maybe that helps). And with lots of research I feel I have given them a good start in life. I know statistically some won't "make" it but at least I have done everything I know of.

I need to see best way to help bantam rooster.. His eye has white stuff and didn't yesterday. Barely see pupil. I have roosters but raised together. Re homing one. Got more hens and integrated over 2 months.
And as for my incubating problems it was the incubator cooking eggs even though I had it set up right. So got new one and had 2 chicks hatch. Having alot of ducklings if anyone wants ducks.they are mallard/Peking mix.
But need to tend to rooster.. Read threads would you keep in pen in house until healed? He freaks not with the hen.. Not mating just likes her?

Look around in the emergencies/disease/injuries and cures forum. Also post in a recent thread that applies or start a new thread and you should get lots of help. Hope roo gets better.

The addiction can be very time consuming, but worth it. Good luck with all the new babies.
Thanks Wendy High. So far all 29 total are eating, drinking and growing. There was one stubborn one but she seems to be perking up.

Also, Kdunn222, check out the forums for your roos symptoms. It has helped me a TON this weekend! I also had an experienced "Chicken Person" I texted for extra help yesterday too. There is so much info on BYC I am sure there is someone that has had similar symptoms. Best of luck!

Hello fellow Texan peeper keepers! We got a nice rain last night which my gardens appreciate greatly! We've now got some asparagus popping up which is always exciting. My hoop coop is no longer the Thunderdome now that my two flocks of mixed laying hens have mostly worked out their differences and the pecking order is normalizing. I'm just glad to see egg production picking back up. We got very few while they were battling it out and I sold 10 dozen this week. The Icelandic pullets have settled into tractor life well but I still need to get busy on their hoop tractor as they'll quickly outgrow my A-frame. Hope everyone is doing well. Just wanted to pop in and say hi!

Hi All! I am new to BYC and chicken keeping. I have been reading and researching on BYC for about a year but I just became a member.

My other interested include Quilting, Knitting, Beekeeping, Gardening and Canning, Anything Craft Related, and RVing.
My current herd includes my husband, 2 kids, 2 dogs, 1 cat and 1 pet crawfish. My future herd includes all of the before mentioned and bees, goats, ducks, a cow… well, you get the point. It’s a 5 year plan!
Welcome! Your plan sounds amazing!

You must have some land worth a pretty penny! I grew up in west Austin. Austin got way too expensive for us to live there so we are in Spicewood, Tx right now helping take care of a family ranch. I have a husband, 1 kid, 3 dogs and a turtle. We will have 4 mini horses, 2 goats and 14+ chickens in the next year
