To pick up at Ideal you just need to call in your order ahead of time because the hatchery is not where you pick up the birds. Make sure they understand you are picking them up and they will give you a date.

Yes, this is a good point - it's not walk in and order, and you pick up at their "business" storefront. You have to order for a set date - but instead of shipping, you pick up. You MUST pick up that day (they don't have the facilities to brood them).
 
Also if you pick up you can get a smaller number of chicks and don't have packing peanuts. You can check them before you leave to make sure they are all ok and they don't have to sit in a cold truck or loading dock somewhere.
